QUOTE(Tamacracker @ Feb 18 2008, 07:58 PM) *
lol f**k a thug.

It was one of Tech's lyrics, I thought you might have recognized it. I guess not.

1. I saw Immortal Technique like three years ago in Chicago. Suck my ass.
2. Only listening to the sort of music that agrees to your sensibilities is for the birds. Not only does such behavior limit your exposure to new ideas (which, in effect, imprisons you), it's also a doctrine that could seriously deprive you of a whole world of interesting, engaging, and emotionally intelligent musical composition.
3. I'm pretty sure Brandon could spit enough Hip-Hop-Know-How to split your skull from pressure.
4. What the hell are you talking about? How do you make friends, ever?

I did you stupid ass... you were using his lyrics towards me. At least that's what it seemed like.

And who the f**k said I was speakin to you? Mind your own business, pussy.
Also that doesn't merit anything... you're probably a newb to I.T.'s shit too lol f**k outta here.

That's funny, cuz I listen to classic rock, death metal, classical, and a bit of punk. Nice assumption :P

Because he listens to different artists than I do, doesn't make him more knowledgeable in hip hop, that's just laughable. I never really cared for the artists such as Mos Def... since Brandon assumes I don't know much about hip hop because of talib kweli lol. Don't get me wrong he probably knows more than I do, but I'm pretty sure I know "a lot" of the history of Hip Hop, but not today's mainstream though.

I've heard of a few new hip hop artists that are known to the world because of Mainstream, yet I never heard their songs, because I don't listen to mainstream... It's not worth my time. This doesn't make me less intelligent, I'm just not stupid as f**k is all.

Apparently the only ass sucking goin on around here is you suckin Brandon's ass lol

Do you even have friends outside of the internet?... Please don't speak about making friends when your only friends are online. I don't make E-friends lol... waste of my time.

so how again is it that you figure that you supposedly "know" we are all new to immortal technique?

i'm really clueless as to how you came to this obviously completely false conclusion.

I am a really big fan of mos def and eminem, even though I don't have a lot of def's stuff. I will say that I am a big fan of ghetto rock though, and he shot Ps. Phat Booty in Jersey City in front of Newport Mall!

Granted Mos has gotten a fair share of the spotlight, its mainly been thanks to his other endeavors from comedy shows, Broadway to major motion pictures. He's on a major label, but he's hardly "mainstream." Unless, of course, you can clarify what you meant by that.

Yeh I guess that fair share of the spot light gave me the right to label him mainstream. I don't have a problem with him as a person.

I wasn't making an assumption at all, I was merely replying to your ideal that we should only listen to artist's that have messages we agree with. That's all I was doing.

And, just so you know, that isn't a terribly eclectic list right there...

QUOTE(Tamacracker @ Feb 19 2008, 08:55 AM) *

I could speak at length about American hardcore, but I couldn't even come close to the same sort of knowledge and insight when it comes to the history of hip-hop. I was simply defending someone in the fray who I know could.

No. I have no friends whatsoever. I'm immensely unpopular.

If anything, of the new wave of "conscious" artists, the mainstream crown would go to Lupe Fiasco in a heartbeat. His resume is solid, but before he started making songs about dead men coming back to life, comparing his flow to Inspector Gadget, or personifying the streets as a giant robot, Lu' had some really hood tracks.

Mos Def's music will never be accepted as mainstream because even though he's loved by White yuppies and hipsters, he'll strike a nerve with people, with songs like Mr. n*gga to Dollar Day.

Which hood tracks are these? Cuz I own 2 unofficial albums of his.. and one that I'm sure everyone of his fans have.

I don't know what you mean by hood. I do know that a lot of the tracks that are not on the official album are a lot deeper than his official album put together.

Go cop the Fahrenheit 1/15 Mixtape Part 2: Revenge of the Nerds that was released in January of '06 and peep the tracks on that cut. Handcuffs, Swtich and Hater Hop to name a few.
