If you're like me, you're doing your best to understand what's going on in the Middle East, even though it seems extremely overwhelming and confusing. (At least to me it does.)
Hopefully, this topic can consist of questions and answers about the conflict and bring about more understanding of it. I found an excellent link which explains the history behind the conflict in an easy-to-understand manner. So, let's get started! |

I really don't know how to solve it. Both sides aren't willing to share, so what's there to do?

As harsh as this may sound, I want to hear about a Fuel Air Bomb being dropped.

I really think that most of this is faulted on the UN for being so hasty in border choices and not giving thought to the reaction of the Palestine people. Now, there's no solution, but I think if the original plans were more thought-out, this could have been avoided.

Good god. Lebanese civilians are being displaced from their homes and are now being called refugees. This really is getting ugly. I'm scared now. This just might turn into WWIII.

Time to donate to whatever world charities you can. Don't have money? Give them your time. Mercy Corps is helping out in the Lebanon crisis. We should do whatever we can to help.

700,000 refugees, most of them remaining in Lebanon.
The Lebanese health ministry reported 362 deaths in Lebanon so far. |

Great, I've been trying to understand Middle East conflicts nowadays, especially with the Israel Lebanon war going on...Israel is attacking soon. Full scale Lebanon. I am so f**kin hyped up for that fullscale invasion, but at the same time, i wish the US was taking part of it. It is kind of selfish for me to enjoy the misery of lebanon being invaded...their country that they were stabilizing is now being torn into shreds. Personally I think that the president is leading them into destruction, or i'm being mislead because on FOX they mentioned that the President said he'd join up with the hhezbollah(the rebel militia)...and that their people are united in this fight.. If only he wasn't so supportive of the hezbollah. Their president is only setting them up to get caked..and If this erupts into worldwar3, The united states can comeout nolonger the world super power... edit//someone make debate thread on this because i was looking for that 1 days ago. |

They're on the Lebanon border right now and trying to destroy Hezbollah's tunnels, hideouts and weapons stashes. The U.S. is trying to take part in it, didn't they send a couple bombs over there....Also, Condoleezza Rice is going over there this Sunday for negotiation.

QUOTE If Hezbola, Humas, Syria and Iran would lay down their weapons right now, there would be peace. If Israel were to lay down their weapons right now, they would be slaughtered. Thats so true..private teams are already in beirut.. But the problem is the hezbollah aren't some shitty group...they're actually pretty hardcore from all the fighting experience they have. Not only this but they have the support of their people, iran, and syria. This is gunna be a great fight! |

im very tired watching the Television as it stands and hearing hundreds of civilians suffering from both sides of Lebanon, and Israel . To an Extent in which kinda actually made me throw up a bit , and start feeling a bit reckless over peace , stabilitiy and humanity for the world . My feelings affect how post - imperial tendicies and mind-sets affect not only governments , but for regular people as well . From whom would you have though have most likely caused the war ? Israel , who has been accused of over-reacting on the situation or Lebanon who has harbored terrorists through the Governmental party of Hezbollah ?...i`m also starting to realize how the Media is affecting all of this ...and how it affects the minds of the public . now i question if were getting the right news instead of there favor to promote , "interesting" stories .

My impression from the OP is the debate is:
-who is responsible? -is the media doing a fair job covering the war? I believe Hezbollah is responsible for the war, as they have been called by the UN to disband and they clearly haven't. Lebanon has been a little soft, but I think their culpability is limited by the fact that their military is so weak. Israel should do more to prevent civilian casualties, but it's kinda hard for them to do that when the enemy is hiding behind civilians. Is the media doing a fair job covering the war? We've seen clear bias in the Reuters coverage of the war. They've doctored photos of smoke and claimed that an Israeli F-16 was firing missiles on a village, when it was just using flares as countermeasures. They photoshopped that picture too to make it more convincing. |

It's getting uglier day by day. I heard the bombings killed at least more than 50 children last week or something? >.< I need to watch the news more.

What do you think of Obadiah Shoher's views on the Middle East conflict? One can argue, of course, that Shoher is ultra-right, but his followers are far from being a marginal group. Also, he rejects Jewish moralistic reasoning - that's alone is highly unusual for the Israeli right. And he is very influential here in Israel. So what do you think? uh, here's the site in question: Middle East conflict

Hopefully, this topic can consist of questions and answers about the conflict and bring about more understanding of it. I found an excellent link which explains the history behind the conflict in an easy-to-understand manner. So, let's get started! QUOTE Israel offered to turn over 97% of the land in the West Bank and all of Gaza, as well as Arab sections of Jerusalem. This offer was turned down by the Palestinians. ^ that's a lie. Israel never offered land back to Palestine, in fact... they kept oppressing the Palestinians and taking more of their land day by day. This site seems pretty biased, there's a title for, "Palestinian terror" but nothing for Israeli terror. Israel has terrorists. And Israel was a piece of land that was stolen from Palestine by an alliance of super powered nations. Reason why the Jews were given that land was simply because Europeans disliked Jews and their Communistic ties. They were all generalized and thrown out. Or am I wrong? I believe Hezbollah is responsible for the war, as they have been called by the UN to disband and they clearly haven't. If your basing responsibilities due to Hezbollah's ignoring orders, then you would have to realize how Israeli's have done just as bad, if not worst. He's clearly a Zionist. I believe your people should stand up for their people and kill all their Zionists who rule your land. They're the ones causing problems. They're the ones who will have your people killed because their hunger for power is evil. |
