I like Saosin :) They're pretty much alternative rock/post-hardcore. You should check em out.

Techno? Try 'The Medic Droid'. They're techno/powerpop/rock. tongue.gif

a couple of my all time favorites are:

dream theater (i'd suggest checking out their myspace first, then search some songs- Space-Dye Vest, Vacant...)
framing hanley- one word, amazing. a mix of a lot of things but if you like rockish stuff you'll defenitely like them. i really suggest listening to Built for Sin and 23 Days. you can find them on purevolume.com.
also, anberlin. can also find them on purevolume.
i'm not sure you'll like this one, but Secondhand Serenade is always a good acoustic band with a rock background feel. :]

I love Dream Theater and all, but their myspace does them no justice. Youtube songs such as glass prison, endless sacrifice, in the name of god, or fatal tragedy. Also if you're into Dream Theater, check out Liquid Tension Experiment. It's a side project with a few Dream Theater members (guitar/drums), all instrumental, and it's pretty interesting to listen to. Songs such as Acid Rock, Paradigm Shift, or Universal Mind.

Try (if you already haven't) Grendel, Ministry, Rob Zombie, Diary of Dreams, Cake, Critical Mass, The Cruxshadows, Lunatic Calm, Zeromancer and Unwritten Law.

All good tunes.

Well, they're not all alternative but they're great bands.
- Barenaked Ladies
- Augustana
- Eve 6
- The Click Five
- Alice In Chains
- Anberlin
- Marcy Playground
- Hellogoodbye

:33
A lot of those bands aren't bands anymore, hah. I throb.gif throb.gif throb.gif throb.gif throb.gif throb.gif Alice in Chains.

There's some good suggestions in this thread. I don't think I can really add much.

myspace doesn't do justice for the majority of bands out there.
i'll go search around youtube for that (liquid tension experiment) sometime...my guilty pleasure is instrumental. whistling.gif

[edit]
OH. for the original poster, here's a few more. :]
a bit of Silverchair can't harm. also, Sick Puppies, incase you haven't heard their entire album. Sugarcult is always good, too.
but for a kinda-rockish band, look into Rush of Fools.
