I guess its because the way the are treated by some in society. I mean when is the last time you heard of a dude getting jumped by a group of guys just for being straight as opposed to getting jumped for being gay?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
I remember back in the day when people would get offended on this site if you used the word gay out of context. If you said something was gay people would get worked up over nothing. I guess they thought it would offend gay people or something. _unsure.gif

I will no longer be cautious to what I type. From this day forth I will keep it real and say bump this. I just can't kick it with you gay folk.

Well, tell me one thing, would people jump on gays if they weren't sporting rainbow-themed attire or parading around talking about how "gay and proud" they are? Exactly. "Coming out" would be no big deal if they also didn't dedicate threads/clubs/parties revolving around them, telling everyone how different they are.

What do they expect? That all narrow-minded, conservative people will appreciate them for standing up for their sexual orientation? No, and this is the consequence of them being obnoxiously proud and upright about it.

Coming out is hard. Because people are raised to HATE gay people why? Because gay people are different. Why were everyone hating african americas when they were slaves, because thats what their parents taught them.... get the who thing?

Not all of them wear rainbow-themed attire. Remember Karamo from the real world. He dressed in hip hop attire. For a gay person to get hit with the shank all it takes is knowing their sexuality, not necessarily them parading around and flaunting it. I mean honestly even if they did parade around why is this a big deal for someone like me? I just ignore it and pay it no mind and keep it moving. As long as its not putting me in harm's way I could care less.

My point exactly, I'm not going to sit here sugar code it, I can be friends with a gay person to a certain exent. I treat them just like every other person except when it comes to hanging out. I just keep everything within a certain boundary. No offense.

Sure, but I think a lot of them do flaunt it, which gets them in trouble more often than not as they're separating themselves from other people.

It doesn't matter to me, either, what these people do or say or have sex with, they're no different than any other whiny group that supports some hippie social movement.

I agree there probably are some who do flaunt it, but being annoying is not against the law, therefore why does this cause trouble? This shouldn't cause any trouble but by coming out they get unwanted attention from those who hate them. But I don't think any person deserves to be treated like this, because like reptilia said "Were all created equal", but unfortunately thats not how society works.

Honestly I believe there will never be a such thing as a peaceful resolution for this, likewise there will never be a peaceful resoluton for racism.

Not to be another person to rain on your parade, but gays make the biggest deal out of their sexual orientation than straight people do; therefore, "alienating" yourselves. I don't view you as anything different or special, you just prefer men like I do.

well sorry to get off all your convo's...
BUT.
why CB's? i mean, if this was a community with a lot of gays (hate to burst your bubnle, but it's asians running CB's laugh.gif ) i could understand it.
but considering there aren't really any gays here...what's the point?
i'm not saying there's absolutely none, i'm just saying from my experience, why would you start something that doesn't fit with a community? you have to make something fit into a community, not a community fit into something.
get it?

Not judging whether or not this original post is a direct form of a pride, I agree that I don't understand gay pride.
What exactly are homosexuals showing pride of? What is the achievement? Congratulations you are...GAY! Okay...Thanks?

I suppose that gay pride may occur to battle the possible shame of it, but I don't think it serves a great purpose. In my city there is a big gay parade and it's some sort of major deal. I go to the Community Festival in the park that is on the street where the parade takes place. It's a big hippie fest with breasts hanging out and alcohol and drugs are involved. It's a good time and the parade is carried out in a similar vibe. So yeah it's fun and all, but I don't think it does much good to show guys in leather thongs bumping and grinding on a float. That isn't what the entire parade is about, it's just the point that supports my reasoning of how this type of festivity is somewhat detrimental to the goals of the coordinators. It is beneficial to have people sharing info about homosexuality to people who are interested, but I think that most of it is just ridiculous. Why not have a parade (or in this case a club or whatever) that celebrates sexuality in general(hence Gay Straight Alliances, etc). Some of the floats in the parade support all sexualities, but it isn't the focus of the event.

What is the difference between a gay parade/gay pride month and say... Black History Month(i do realize that its historic meaning vs the pride, but still)? I don't intend to demean the significance of Black History Month, but I'm sure some would argue against it with the same type of logic. I think that BHM is a decently deserved accolade and that maybe firm supporters of homosexuality feel that that are fighting aggression equivalent to what blacks faced in the past?
