What I hate right now about America is everyone is saying "happy holidays" instead of "Merry Christmas"

what holiday is around the corner? Christmas.
not multiple unimportant holidays, but Christmas.

wtf?
that's ur own opinion that ur holiday is more important. other people who celebrate other ones consider theirs just as important. what's so awful about acknowledging them all at once.

But people changing to "Happy Holidays" because people get offended by "Merry Christmas" is stupid as shit.

^yeah, i've never said it because i don't wanna offend people, i just say it cause it acknowledges them all at once. then again i didn't know till recently that people get so worked up over either saying. people crying over holiday sayings in general is stupid as shit.

so what youre saying is that "happy holidays" is just a way to acknowledge all the holidays such as Hanukkah or Kwanzaa?

When I hear Happy Holidays I just see a bunch of frightened individuals who are scared to hurt peoples feelings by saying Merry Christmas

i see people who realize there is more than just their own personal holiday. as i've said, my saying it has nothing to do with worrying someone will be offended by saying merry christmas. i say it to acknowledge all the holidays. i hope everyone has a happy holiday, whether that be christmas or something else. i don't see anything wrong with that.

to me people getting so uptight over the saying happy holidays is the same as people getting so uptight over the saying merry christmas. if someone says merry christmas to me i don't think they are trying to shove their love of jesus down my throat. i just think they are making a kind gesture, same thing i'm doing when i wish them a happy holidays. i don't go out of my way to enforce the happy holidays saying.

however if i know which holiday they celebrate i'll just say merry/happy whatever the f**k they celebrate. when i say that i use happy holidays, i'm talking about in a general way, as in people who i don't know their religious background, or groups of people.

I don't understand why anyone would get wrapped up around it. There's far more important things in life to worry about than offending someone by wishing them good cheer for the wrong holiday.

Well my state is backwards when it comes to things like that. They're trying to rename "The Holiday Tree" as "The Christmas Tree". I don't think it really matters shrug.gif It's not like Christmas is as religious as it used to be.

^thats true.

Santa is probably what a kid thinks of when they hear Christmas, not Jesus.

So, saying Merry Christmas doesn't mean Merry Birth of Christ Day, anymore.

THE HOLIDAY TREE?

I think it's gay that we have to make so many adjustments to our language for those who are offended by everything. Life is too short to get hung up by the fact that, traditionally, America has called it a Christmas tree and so has everyone else. If that offends you, you are one pathetic excuse for a human.

It's the United States. You can get sued for trying to save peoples lives, or even get killed for wearing blue in a certain area. Freedom and rights have their price.

Should people who think America sucks so bad stay in America? I personally think that if you hate the country so much, and all you do is bitch and moan about it, then you should pack yo bags :)

That or try to do something about it.

Bump! Absolutely, if you don't like the country, then get the f**k out.
I hate it when people say America this or Americans or that, and yet they don't have a problem with using what America has to give to them. I am damn proud to be where I am from, but for the people who trash the country and its citizens, leave please.

Apply that same logic to the Civil Rights Movement, Women's Rights Movement, the Watergate scandal, Vietnam protests, the Red Scare, and the Revolutionary War.

And why should we? We don't have to cater to minorities. They're minorities.
