I have one, but I don't use it unless I absolutely HAVE to. However, there are some people who can't live without their cellphone or live without talking on their cellphone every second of their life! I just don't see the addiction that they hold on some people. It's just a phone!

I think it would be fun to know one of those cellphone obsessed people. I would like to put one of them in a room with no way to escape, take away their phone, give them paper and a pen, then tell them they have to write a letter if they ever want to communicate with another person again.

Anyway, is anyone here one of those people who can't live without their cellphone? What makes your cellphone so special that you can't even dream of having to live without it?

Does texting count, because I rarey talk on my cell phone.

When i'm out in a parking lot at night i HAVE to call someone.
I hate walking alone especially if its somewhere shady and dark. i have to have someone with me even if it's just their voice.

also in college i have no clue where my friends are at times and i can only contact them by cellphone. hahaha.

or tell parents where i'm at so they know.. i'm not getting kidnapped or something.

I have one but I really could go without it.

I like mine, but I don't use it except for the esential communications.
It goes everywhere with me (school, work, other places), mostly because my parents check up on me at random times, and if I don't answer, they freak out.

I could definitely live without it though.

I like having one for convenience, but I actually could live without one.

As for the people who are addicted to their cells, I think it's more of them being addicted to being in touch with whoever they're talking to, not to the phone itself.

Yeah, that. I use it so much more now. In high school I really only used it when I needed a ride or something, because I don't like to talk on the phone when I have nothing to say. Now I use it so much more often, though.

^ That's what I use my cell phone the most for. Sometimes I call my friends and people call me. I talk mostly at night on my cell so my friends can call without waking my parents up.

Nah, I can live without mine. I rarely use it. It's a really nice phone too, so it's such a waste.

Living without my cell phone is hard. It was disconnected for like a day and let me tell you, life wasn't easy. I NEED IT.

Anyways, well I can't live without one, but I'm not one of those people who are constantly bustin' out their phone or texting. I only text when someone texts me and they don't have the same service as I do. Since I have 400 free texts per month, I migh take well take advantage of it when I can't call someone since they have a different cellular provider. But even then, that's rare. The only person I call regularly is my boyfriend, and that's only if we're not together.

There have been times where my cell phone died. I'm not too worried, but it sucks because usually I need to get in contact with someone in case I need a ride somewhere or need to meet up at a certain place. How can I contact them? lol.

I still write letters to people, once in a while. But it's rare since very few of my friends go to college with my anyway. :/

I hate texting. I'll respond to them, but I'll never just send them unless I have something really that's short and isn't worth a phone call but can't wait for facebook.

I hate the god damned phone, and I especially hate annoying ringing sounds. By the fourth time, I usually just turn my cell phone off as an indicator that I don't want to talk to you.

i barely use my phone cause i get no reception at home, but when i do, it's pretty important that someone can contact me outside of home (since i'm barely home 90% of the time).

my boyfriend doesn't have a cell phone and i don't know how he does it (he isn't going to get one anytime soon). and it bugs me when his phone line is busy and i have no other way to contact himmmm.

that ever knowing fear that......

1.One day you might get stuck in a car accident or your car fails and nobody is there to help you out so then you have to walk out in the cold snow trying to find a telephone.

2.you get kidnapped and all you have is your phone.

3.there is this big family emergency and people have no way of contacting you.

lol those are all hypothetical situations. haha but i think cell phones are essential. i think also many people have done papers about how having a phone is necessary.

when i have a kid i hope to give him/her a cell phone made for kids . i think its very useful.

I can live without it, but it'd probably cost me a lot of money because of long distance calls. I have some friends that go out-of-state for college so it's nice to not get charged to keep in touch. Plus, the security thing, like letting my mom know where I am and if something happens I can call whoever I need to for help.

Before I met Josh I never used my cell phone. EVER

I just always had it in case of emergencies in which never happened. Also during middle school I was on the soccer team so if we ever had delays or anything it was nice to give my parents a call.. oh and i always played the games on my phone..thats what it was most useful for

I use mine quite a lot so I definitely need it...my parents constantly wanna check up on me, so there's that. Also, just to find people and keep in touch. I never use my house phone since I have a pretty good plan so yeahh..

I never pick up the house phone anymore because there's so many telemarketers. If they get my cell phone, at least I don't have to pick up a suspicious number, since I have caller ID on that. Haha yea don't you think the house phone is more for local calls, and the cell is more of a convenience and for long distance calls?
