there is ALOT going in here. wacko.gif
so back to the original statement.

blah blha blah...
there are just going to be the same things being said over and over again...but the main one that i mostly agrre with is that there's honestly no way to prove that (a) God exists or dosn't exist.

you just have to ...its like...idk uh...FAITH! that's all it's about. If you believe in (a) God, then thta's great. If you don't, then thta's great.

Religion and Spirituality are all about YOU AND A HIGHER POWER...if "the atheists" annoy you that much cuz they don't beleive, then just the f**k over it cuz you have your god...just let them not have theirs. It's not your life, it won't affect you...i don't see the big deal.

i actually find this topic offense. first of all, the title annoys me. idk why, it just does.

&for the record, i do believe in God.

Way to contribute nothing. f**k.

No one in this world can prove that God doesn't exist or God does exist... I don't even know why this thread is still open. We have people here who use the same argument. Can a scholar or philosopher at least come in here and educate us lol

Anyways that's my last .02 cents on that.

Well, Frankie doesn't seem like someone who would type like that, not to talk of 'think' like that.

I actually agree with you in regards to that statement lol. I'd rather live off of proof than faith.

Frankie is a 'calm' person and it didn't sound like him. I never said his post was bad! GRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!

I agree with you. You don't belong in the debate section.

one of my friend is christian and i read a booklet they had in their room. it said, "prove god exists and you'll get 250,000"

...
some christian scientist was the booklet author. which made me laugh because my friend said, "no one has proved it yet"
even though it's the same basically the other way around.
idk. you're never going to change someone's mind on something they believe gives them "happiness".

yeah it's worth noting that the christian "scientist" who made that claim is sitting in prison right now for tax evasion, i suppose god told him he didn't have to pay his taxes. assuming we're talking about kent hovind.

true...but why should people shove religion/"god" down atheist's throats? we dont-ok well atleast i've never heard of-shove our no higher power beleifs down their throats. seriously. just leave it alone...we all have opinions, and there's atleast two side of everything; no matter the majority, it doesn't mean either is right or wrong.
it's just beleif. i see it as why should we complicate life more with the god stuff. just let people be them. if we were all christain/catholic or beleived in god or whatever, it'd be the same as basically everybody's hair being blonde, blue eyes, same shaped body, same voice...and so on.

There is no proof, of course, either way. People have tried throughout the years, using tacit arguments, using ontological and further silliness. Descartes even tried this on more than one occasion. Essentially, after all of the talking is done, it's just as easy to say, "no, I disagree," as it is to say, "wow, that makes sense." Nothing is, or can be resolved without some form of empirical evidence.

With that said, Foucault's theories seem most relevant for such an argument; largely, they're in application against Plato's "forms," but with reference to this, it has relevance, too. Foucault goes so far as to say, "there is no truth, it's merely a construct of man." This is, of course, paraphrased, but you get the point. "God" is a creation of man, in much the same way "morality" is. This is not to say that he/she/it doesn't exist; it's simply an extension of my application of his argument: leave it up to mankind to worry about something that doesn't affect them. "God" can't be proved effectively one way or another, yet we've spent thousands of years arguing, fighting, and killing in the name of such a being. Is it just me, or is this actually god damned hilarious? We're fighting and killing over a being we've created, then put words in his/her mouth, accordingly, and then continued the fight as to say whose words of wisdom shoved in a hypothetical being's mouth are "true." Can I get an LOL?

A "God" is a meaningless part of everyone's life. If you believe that he has helped you, and that you have witnessed miracles, you're basically a fool in my eyes. Millions die from disease, famine, and who-knows-what else. With this in mind, why would "god" favor you above those who have clearly been neglected since day one of their lives? It seems naive, and borderline insane with visions of grandeur to think that any such thing has taken place. Yet, tell this to the believers, and they'll all scream into my ears and face, "Ye of little faith!!!!" Just by the problems on paper with logical fallacies, it's clear that "god" isn't what we think it is, anyway, if, indeed, he/she/it did actually exist. "The problem of Evil," anyone?

Faith. Faith is what Pascal based his wager on. Faith. People put "faith" in something they cannot prove, hoping for infinite gain if they live a certain way, "knowing" that a "god" will reward them for their pious actions. Funny, what if they're wrong? What if there is a god, and he punishes them for what they've done, instead of giving them their infinite gain? Oh, god forbid. People actually go with this, as if it's a sound reason to "believe." That, there needs to be a reward, something beyond this physical life, to simply act in ways that are "fair."

A challenge to the atheist? Why? Most of us are not telling you what you should prove to me. I can't feel the love of god in my bosom as you very clearly can. I can only read, interpret, and try to understand the world around me as it presents itself. Until someone proves to me that a "god" exists, I see no reason to hold out and say that he/she/it does. It's the same argument, over and over, "Nuh-uh," vs. "Yuh-huh." Take your pick, but don't try to force anyone to agree with you.
