Come one, come all! In the same vein as the Official Film Snobs Club, exclusionist attitudes come free with every top 20 favorite albums or artists list posted! If you feel like you should be entitled to tell people to never listen to music again, then apply. As someone that has been telling people to listen to better music for years now, I will let you know how qualified you aren't to push your taste in music onto others. I hated your favorite band before you knew they existed; I know what I'm doing.
If I like the cut of your jib, you can tell people what bands to listen to and why the music they listen to is just recycled, trite bullshit. We can also exchange soulseek usernames. <3 So, as I said, post your Top 20 favorite ALBUMS or ARTISTS. I'm not terribly interested in hearing about your favorite songs. Chances are those change all the time. Artists and albums offer something a bit more consistent. We will be like a bowel irritation with a dope record collection. 1 2 3! 1 2 3! ALBUMS 1. Death to False Screamo compilation (N/A) 2. Pretty Hot / Ghost Mice split (Anti-Creative, 2005) 3. Andrew Jackson Jihad / Ghost Mice split (Plan-It-X, 2007) 4. Johnny Hobo and the Freight Trains - All Power to the Wingnuts! E.P. (Spare Change, ?) 5. I Hate Myself - 2 Songs (No Idea, 2000) 6. Ghost Mice - The Debt of the Dead (Plan-It-X, 2004) 7. Circle Takes the Square - As the Roots Undo (Robotic Empire, 2004) 8. Mischief Brew - Smash the Windows (Fistolo, 2005) 9. Orchid - Gatefold (Ebullition, 2000?) 10. World/Inferno Friendship Society - Just the Best Party Ever (Chunksaah, 2002) 11. Anti-Product - The EPs of AP ( ?, 2002) 12. Defiance, Ohio - Share What Ya Got (Plan-It-X, 2004) 13. Raein - Il N'y a Pas de Orchestre (React With Protest, 2003) 14. Countdown to Putsch - Ideas for the Living and the Willing to Act (Ebullition, ?) 15. I Hate Myself - 10 Songs (No Idea, 1997) 16. My music taste greatly differs. from yours The optimist in me wants to believe that this list a joke. The realist in me knows that it's just a list of "auto-no"s and you are completely serious. One thing's for sure, we do have very different taste in music. I don't listen to music that is unfathomably boring and unimaginative. Hmm... Interesting. I'll give it a shot, I suppose. I would have agreed more with this list a few years ago when I had a greater interest in indie. That interest has long since faded, though. Thusly, a lot of this list I don't particularly hate or even dislike, I just wouldn't care to listen to them again; I used to listen to The Trail of Dead, The Decemberists, Neutral Milk Hotel, Owen, and Sufjan Stevens. I have to say, though, mewithoutyou is probably one of my most hated bands. There are a few bands on this list that I haven't heard of (Psalters, Anathallo, One Amazin' Kid, Stars) but if any on thing killed this list for me, it'd be mewithoutyou. So, um, send this list to me three years ago and I'll let you in. ![]() |

Wow, how can you now like acoustical music? You are a horrible person. You music taste is awful. If you knew anything about music outside of what is spoon fed to you, you'd know that almost half of the albums on my list are acoustic; and, in most cases, the bands that made those albums are strictly acoustic. I'm pretty sure I have more acoustic on my list than you do. In other words, THEY SHOULD CALL YOU MARIO BECAUSE YOU JUST GOT ONE UP'D. Nice try, though. Better luck next time, guy. Next time tell me you like powerpop and Fueled By Ramen Records more than I do, and I'll agree entirely. P.S. you should know that it's Dashboard Confessional, not Dashboard Confessionals. There's only one confessional on the dashboard. Apparently, I know your bands better than you do, too. |

Wait, let me get this straight: Admittance to this club is based solely on your like or dislike of the posted artists? Do you have any special plaques or awards hanging on your wall that make you a highly qualified music connoisseur, or are you just being overly pretentious and seating yourself on a higher pedestal because you have all the time on your hands to discover every band there ever was and then compare them to other people's favorites?
Oh, okay. I get it. |

I'm a member of last.fm's Musical Elitists. We are far superior in our elitism; yesterday we had 8 members pending for admittance. Of those, one was accepted and another is being considered because he was a former member, the rest rejected. We've also capped membership at 50, but that's not an issue because we also kick out inactive members. We have an official executioner, but she only makes the decisions on her own when the applicant is blatantly terrible.
What makes me wary of this is that it is...well, everything, and therefore I'll probably have to get back to you on this. |

What makes me wary of this is that it is...well, everything, and therefore I'll probably have to get back to you on this. I looked into your club and it was nothing but rehashed indie bullshit that everybody over at Pitchfork strokes their knobs to. The rest were singers and musicians from sixty years ago that everybody listens to just so that they feel like they have more indie "cred," a few of which, I admittedly like. I'll give you a shot, though. I sense potential. Send a list (I'm somewhat expecting an album, since my hopes are mildly up) and maybe we can work something out. Oh, okay. I get it. A little bit from column A, a little bit from column B. I hardly put taking the time to discover new bands that actually bring something new and interesting to the realm of music on the same level as "having all the time on my hands." I'm sure you have your passions. But, other than that, yeah, you're pretty much right. You can't be in this club unless I like your list because it means you don't listen to shitty music. REPRSENT. TRU PUNX. Aw, well thats okay, I suppose. May I ask why mewithoutyou is one of your most hated bands? To put it simply, they just represent a lot of what I don't like about music. I hate their sytle of music. There isn't a whole lot to "post-hardcore" that I can actually say I enjoy; it pretty much extends to me thoroughly enjoying Blood Brothers and At the Drive-In, in other words, the two post-hardcore bands that everybody likes. I also hate how blatantly Christian they are. I am sour towards post-hardcore, I am sour towards Christian rock. I can say one good thing about them, though: the vocalist isn't terrible. All other factors aside, I do enjoy the vocals. Oh, and I am enemies with Tooth and Nail records. |

I seriously find you amusing. You think you are like the queen and master at music. You think you know everything about it, and you think your tastes in music is only acceptable. So if i made a list, of bands I didn't like, but I posted bands you like, just to make you happy, i'm sure you will like that. Seriously, the only elitists you are in is wack music.

What betty means is, just because you like a certain something, and if you see someone else liking something else that you don't like, it doesn't mean their liking sucks.
