Then, again, some of the most racist people I've ever met includes Asians.

One thing that pisses me off is "justified" racism. Like, in NYC, there's a lot of Chinese people. I can't tell you how much it pisses me off when a black person calls me ch**k or goes CHING CHONG GONG. However, if you respond likewise and call them ...the N word, they get all mad at you and call you racist. I don't care what your race had to go through when you're racist yourself. Just because you faced discrimination, doesn't mean you can turn around and be racist yourself.

I think stereotypes are understandable and unavoidable. But if the stereotypes in your mind prevent you viewing/treating a group of people as equals, than there's something seriously wrong with you.

I mean unless they actually intend to hurt your feelings, or know that they will hurt your feelings, I think most racist jokes are kind of funny...and true. I laugh at the asian ones all the time.

Also sometimes, people are too hard core about it, and claim racism when there's none.

For example, I had one african-american classmate (I'm not saying all african americans are like this...just an example people) who got sent outside the classroom and yelled "YOU'RE JUST SENDING ME OUT 'CAUSE I'M BLACK."

It was so stupid. I live in like the most liberal state ever...not to mention the most liberal town ever. Gay people here are like, smothered because they're gay...it's like the opposite. Too much love. Same with different races.

You're right it's "not completely true" though it's what I've noticed in my area. I can only go by my experiences.

uh, no they didn't. the pilgrims/puritans could not be considered illegal by modern terms because there were no immigration laws in north america in the 1600s. african slaves were forced to come, but still came legally. italians, irish, poles, russians, and other european immigrant groups definetely came legally, otherwise they wouldn't have come through ellis island. and my family sure didn't come illegally. hell, my parents waited for NINE YEARS just to get a visa.

and the reason that they're "just focusing on the hispanics" is because 78% of all illegal immigrants are from latin america. yes, there are other ethnic groups that make up a portion of the illegal immigrant group, but latinos are the overwhelming majority.

This totally has escalated into a half decent debate.
