I'd like to propose an official members lounge. It'd be pretty much the same as the current lounge, except it would only be open to official members (and everyone else that's not just a common member)

be a nice way to give another perk, and give people a place to bond without all the riff raff getting in and interfering.

If the person isn't an Official Member, they aren't allowed. :[ Like Spencer mentioned, only certain user groups (such as Official Members) will have access to that particular forum.

So if you get warned and you lose that status, you won't be able to access the Official Members Lounge until you regain your Official Member status.

If you have a particular issue regarding your warn level, member status or have any questions regarding this, please feel free to PM one of the Admins if your warn level is at 0 so that you can be promoted to Official Member again. PM any of moderators (including Head Staff and Admins) if it has been at least 2 weeks since you were warned (unless there were certain circumstances involved, like a long suspension) and you feel like your warn level should be lowered.

Just to let you all know, Ju-Sun has been PMd about this but he is probably way busy right now. Other than that, like Mona said, this is a go. =)

I was warned 20% 1 year ago and i still have it =_= if that is the case i should be 0%
If a mod sees this please update my warning level.

Done, although you really could have just PMed someone.

Oh, actually, I'll only be able to do 10%, but I'll get back to you in 24 hours.

Then rico, in the meantime post up to 3500 posts to be a permanent official member, unless the admin is going to overlook that you have less than 5ppd becuase you were out for a lengthy amount of time.
It's having at least 3,500 OR a at least a 5.0 PPD, not both.

I don't like it. This kind of exclusivity isn't promoting subculture, it's promoting elitism. What can you talk about as an official member in the official member forum that you can't talk about in the regular forum? Is this really a "perk"? How so?

The only reason why I care is because I'm about to lose my OM status and I think this OM forum will make it hard for me to talk to my friends. But, whatever. I'm not about to post useless things to get my PPD up.

^ Why would you lose your OM status? You've met the post count requirement to be a permanent OM.

Ah, for a moment I thought ppd was the only way you can keep OM status. lucky me! was the 3500 posts rule always there?

but still... what can i talk about in the OM Forum that I can't talk in the regular fourm?

We enacted the newest addition to the rule about two months ago.

As for your question, I assume not that much. I guess a lot of staff members are for it because it encourages members to become Officail Members. shrug.gif But I can see what you're saying.

Oh... that's why i didn't know... this whole time i thought my OM status is going away for good.

see, i would think "be-a-mod-for-a-day" would be a good perk for OM members or something like that. but having a separate forum... i really don't see how that's a perk.

it's not fun harrassing OMs as it is harrassing noobs. not that i would harrass anyone.

looks like everyone likes the idea though... for whatever reason... oh well. at least i'm in.

Mod for a Day is great....depending on which Official Member it is.

People just like the idea because there's nothing all that special about being an Official Member anymore, just the title, and we would like something there.

I still don't think it would make OM that "special". It's not toooo hard to become an OM and eventually members who are active will gain access.

To be honest, Fae, I kind of side with you in so far as 'what is the point?', but really, my take on it is kind of 'let the kids have what they want.'

Don't you think things like that would go better unsaid? Those kinds of things make it look as if the mods are condescending to the members, calling them kids and acting as if they're little 12 year olds and you're the parent dictating their lives but tossing them a bone w/ the member lounge.

*shrugs*

I call everyone 'kids,' my friends, parents, and bosses included. It's just a thing. Maybe if people got to know me rather than got defensive, they would know that.

But, yes, point taken.

Oh, and there are mods who really want this too, so I would like it noted that I was being condescending to them in equal measure.

^As in want the OM Lounge?

I wasn't trying to be defensive. I was just pointing out the fact that when you act as if you're tossing someone a bone just to shut them up, it isn't going to come across in the friendliest of ways.

Yup.

And, no, I suppose it isn't. But I won't pretend to be hugely enthusiastic if I'm not, and I feel that giving people what they want is the only real benefit of the OM Lounge.
