Ummmmmm I hate internet relationships. And I hate long distance one's too, but if I had been talking on the net/phone with them for years I could see how some people would want to meet them and start a relationship then.

It only really works if your old enough to drive and pay for your own plane tickets and such though. But dating a person you've never met is misleading, at the least.

i'd only hook up if they lived in the same city or a nearby one- assuming we hit it off in the first place

^ I'd only do that if I had friends with me. Not exactly a safe thing to do...to meet someone without friends. We'd have a group date first before we had a regular date.

Not.. over the internet. I'd consider if I lived near the guy or something. But we'd have to meet up and get to know each other offline, of course.

OMFGoodness. One day I was talking to this guy at the bus station while I was waiting for the bus to work, right. We was talking about a bunch of random subjects and he kept on trying to cleverly figure out where I lived. Also he kept on insisting we hang out but I gave him nothing because he's a stranger. Somehow he got hold of my myspace and I'm like whatever and he kept on bugging me online. A couple days later, my cousin's friend was surfing the internet and came across the sex offender registry whatever and out popped his picture. I was like WTF MAN!!! Even worse he lives pretty close to me. Next time I see him I want to knock his ass out.

sorry random story.

^^ WOWWW scary. your parents taught you well!

but anyways a lot of things would have to work out..AMAZINGLY. aim is useless when trying to figure out the other person..phone calls are better. if things are great then i guess move on from there but if we had to meet in person i'd definitely bring one of my friends who had a blackbelt in karate or something

I hooked up with a girl I never knew existed until I met her on a different forum. DBSK Forums
But she lived like 10 minnutes away from me. She ended up becoming my girlfriend. and then my ex. Then my cause for my depression.

On Topic.
If I talked to them on the phone enough and what not.
I wouldn't hook up right off the bat.
I'd give it a minimum of a year of a solid relationship phone/online wise until I even think about meeting up with that person
But I'd commit to drive/buy a ticket to see them for a weekend or something if she felt the same way.

Wow thats really scary to think of what might have happened, if you really did go and meet him.

Anyways..I wouldent hook up with someone on the internet because of who it might be, alot of people like the person I quoted above, probably never thought of that person being a sex offender. Im not willing to take that chance of going and meeting someone and they could turn around and rape/kill me. Especially now-a-days.

On cB, no...
I dont think its personal enough.
Besides, the distance from America (where most of you are) to Australia is a bit, woah.

So, no, but I'm not against internet dating if;

1. They lived generally nearby.
2. We can meet regulary.

^ Well, yeah. But the topic isn't asking about internet relationships.. Just hooking up with someone from cB in general. And basically that's the only safe bet.

I actually have a couple really good friends who I started talking to online and then on the phone. People are different on the phone than on the computer and different in real life than on the phone.

Even if you know them really well, you shouldn't meet them alone... and yet you hear of these kids who invite strangers to their HOMES.

But to answer the question, probably not.
