I have a feeling that cB will turned into a competing networking site.

a kickass design, div, music, and everything. cB's profile page is better than myspace. dont you think? we can use javascript and a whole bunch of other things.

I don't think it will turn into a complete networking site. I think the new profile feature will bring in new members but I don't see the profile aspect overtaking the site/forums.

It does take a little away from the forums but it's a great way to get to know other members in the community. And the purpose of CB isn't to be a social networking site so I don't think it will be competing with the likes of MySpace, which is trashy for the most part anyway.

Yeahhh...it's a good way to talk to people period. _smile.gif
That's what I was thinking.
I can't really see cB turning into a worldwide phenomenon like MySpace or something. Majority of users who join never even post here, they just it for the tracker or to get layouts.

On the one hand, it does improve inter-member (intra-member?) relationships and detracts from potential spam on the forums themselves as people will get to know each other via profiles rather than on the forums. On the other, it just reminds me way too much of myspace/facebook/everything else.

^ I agree completely.

I really think it's much more of a positive than a negative thing, once you consider all the aspects of it.

were you successful in inserting js code? what field did you input the code? sorry but im not going to allow js code, theres just too many security holes that come along wtih it.

and after im all done wtih cb4, im going to continually add features to cb so that the complete feature set will be comparable with other social networking sites. but i dont see cb ever becoming a full blown socnet. if anything, id like to see cb become a socnet for aspiring web designers. =)

^ ah ha, I like the last sentence. _smile.gif

This is what makes cB's profile pages different from MySpace/Facebook/other networking sites.

One thing I do prefer about having createBlog personal profiles is that it lessens the need to network via some other means (eg. myspace/facebook); I don't use myspace per se, but on facebook, I know I prefer to keep it mostly (if not all) people I've met irl (since it did start out as a college thing).. so kudos on that. :)
