Well, it's not God's plan for us to murder, so why would it be okay for Abraham?

i don't get it heath, back to jakes question about harboring innocent people in your basement and someone knocks on the door and asks if they were there. given this circumstance, say that they were innocent and were hiding for a reason, to protect their lives or something, you would not lie to protect their life? and this god you speak of, will protect them from danger? if you could lie JUST this one time to save their life, you wouldn't?
just in my opinion, it depends on the situation. like lying to protect someone, is still a lie but i consider that a good deed in my eyes. |

I'm sorry... What does this have to do with lying? Ha ![]() I lost track. I would try to explain that but my head is hurting lol....ok back to the debate. i don't get it heath, back to jakes question about harboring innocent people in your basement and someone knocks on the door and asks if they were there. given this circumstance, say that they were innocent and were hiding for a reason, to protect their lives or something, you would not lie to protect their life? and this god you speak of, will protect them from danger? if you could lie JUST this one time to save their life, you wouldn't? just in my opinion, it depends on the situation. like lying to protect someone, is still a lie but i consider that a good deed in my eyes. I really don't know it's a hard one because I know in the Bible it says not to lie but of course people do that all the time but I guess if I was doing it for a good reason God wouldn't punish me for it. Yes, God would protect them if thats what's suppose to happen. Sometimes, it's our times to die. |

It's good that you're trying to follow God's principles to the tee, but you have to realize that there are special circumstances for a lot of things that God mentions. Such as this. We are humans. It's human nature to be deceitful. He knows that. God cannot be disappointed because he knows our hearts. He knows we aren't perfect and that we screw up. It's normal. You have to know that lying to protect some one's life is perfectly fine. |

If God said that, yes. Look at the Muslim countries. They believe that if they kill an infidel, they will receive like 70 virgins in Heaven. So, they have no problem with it. Why should I? Eh, I wouldn't take that whole 70 virgins in Heaven thing to much regard. The chances of religious leaders in Muslim countries manipulating the religion to fit their desires are quite high.If you want to talk about justified war in scriptures though, the Kurukshetra War described in the Bhagavad Gita is much more accountable. |

Yes, I'm a Christian, I am not really new to it though, I've been a Christian for almost 2 years but I have slipped away from God several times but not counting those times it's been 2 years or so since I submitted my life to him. I understand no one is perfect and we all fall short of God's glory and that were going to make mistakes but as a christian you MUST at least try to be righteous meaning to not sin but of course since were born sinners, we can't totally 100% keep from sinning. |
