I don't think that ANYONE should post and point out someone just because of their past background, and what had happened in the past. mellow.gif That would be......... incredibly dumb. Okay, you know what? If you guys have conversational things to say, that don't have anything to do with Moderation Performances, you should take them to PMs.

Okay, I really don't want to be defensive, but what threads are you talking about..? blink.gif

If you were reffering to the past, the past is the past, like access denied said. Summer's over. I'm not like that anymore.

I think Diana was just getting it out of her system.
Kudos to her, some people have built up crap like that for years.

Thanks for the feedback Diana..

feel free to say whatever.

I'm still questioning if kayceeisms/tic tac. are ready for the job. Here is a question for you, tic tac.: Would you have never removed that image if Sherlock. Kristina (_smile.gif) hadn't pointed it out? mellow.gif I'm really just wondering.

Edited. wink.gif

I questioned kayceeisms when she first got hired. I wasn't so sure if she was 'qualified.' I have respect for her. She's doing a great job right now, I just don't know if she can handle the criticism. (So far so good, though). I'm starting to have faith in her, though.

I'm going to break my characteristic attitude to answer a question seriously, for once. It was posed in another thread, but in the interest of not hijacking that thread (since it deals with a pretty cool issue), I'm going to post it here:

QUOTE(brownsugar @ Apr 6 2007, 12:01 PM) *
You constantly post about how people take cB too seriously, and how it's just the internet (please don't try to tell me your last post was serious), and how it doesn't really matter.

If it's not that serious, please just unregister your account. I mean that with all due respect.

Ack, you caught me. Yep, it's true; sometimes even I inadvertently take the Internet seriously, so I can certainly understand why others do, too. I constantly have to check myself and remember that online forums are supposed to be fun, not Serious Business. So in this case, I am guilty as charged.

So why don't I leave? Why doesn't mipadi just unregister? The simple answer is that, deep down, contrary to what I claim, I really do think CB is a cool place, or at least it can be at times and has the potential to be so all the time.

But to fully answer the question about why I don't just leave, let me give a brief overview of my time here.

CB was great fun the first summer I was here, the summer of 2005. Somehow I became more well-known than I had expected or wanted, and by December 2005, I was a mod. Cool beans. Four months later, surprisingly, I was even promoted to Head Staff.

And over the course of that time, things became Not Fun.

I guess I got caught up in enforcing rules, being the "strict headmaster", keeping everyone in line. I wasn't just free to post when and what I wanted, and I felt a need to be here all the time. So in one night of manic craziness, I quit. Dani was probably the only person present for my logical progression of thought on the IRC channel, but suffice it to say what I really wanted to do with my time wasn't enforcing rules on high school kids on the Internet. So I made plans to leave CB forever.

And I left for a while, but I popped in every now and then. And I found I couldn't completely leave because, well, it was kind of fun around CB, and there were a few cool people.

Then in January 2007, the call went out for new mods. Kryogenix convinced me to apply. I didn't want to at first, but then I thought, "Hey, I do care about CB. I want to make this a fun place." So I applied.

Murmurings on the forums tell me my application didn't go over too well. Firstly, I specifically stated that I wasn't going to post often. Secondly, my application probably sounded a bit conceited and self-centered. It wasn't; anyone who perceived it that way simply doesn't know me that well. People like Dani, for example, who know me well know that my application was mostly tongue-in-cheek.

So I got hired. Some staffies welcomed me back, others were pretty cold and critical of me from the start. Whatever. I did my job. Sure, I didn't always post a lot, but I came everyday and offered feedback where my opinion was valid.

But that's the thing: The mere fact that I didn't post daily, that I didn't splash the forums with useless threads or posts, meant that I was criticized for my "inactivity". Eventually I decided enough was enough and left.

So while I like CB, am I a bit resentful? Yes, definitely. And not only for me: Kryogenix left recently, too. And here's a guy who's been at CB since the very beginning, who knows micron, who's seen the ebb and flow of the forums. And he's forced out, too, for inactivity. He's not even a Mentor, for God's sake! He should at least be a Mentor. I've requested to become a Mentor, too, even though I'm not likely to get the position. Why? It's not enough to come to CB everyday, to watch the patterns of the forums, to provide advice and guidance on things like the CreateWiki; no, if you're not posting on a regular basis, it doesn't matter how much you show up, you're simply labeled as inactive.

That's why I think CB is too serious.

I mean, really, I don't even take myself seriously. Dani and I joke a lot about this "reputation" I have; unfortunately, a lot of staff members seem to think I really do have a superiority complex, that I think I'm some sort of legend around here—and then seem to criticize me when I don't live up to such a reputation. Relax, guys, it's just a joke; you'd see that if you weren't being so serious.

So yes, CB's an awesome place; and yes, even though I like it, I still have some lingering resentment.

I mean, really, I don't want to single anyone out here, but just to air grievances: You have long seemed to hold a grudge against me, Suzette, and I don't really know why. Oh, I know why recently—I've been a total a-hole—but you've held the grudge a lot longer than that, and I never understood why. Rebecca, too, has a long-standing personal grudge against me that I don't understand. So yes, again, I have some resentment based on the fact that individuals take me—and the forums in general—too seriously and make judgments based on that.

So yeah, I actually would like to leave, but CB is a nice place; and my attempts to continue to make it fun always outweigh my feelings that I should just hang it up and leave.

But maybe unregistering is the right thing to do.

Actually, I've never had a personal grudge against you. If anything, I also thought it was reversed.

But I think that's pretty moot at this point. Some people get along and the chemistry (as silly as that sounds, referring to chemisty between people in an online Forum) is good, sometimes it isn't. I just don't think you and I never completely saw eye to eye. That doesn't mean I never had any respect for you.

For what's it worth, I wouldn't at all like to see you unregister. My only issue with you as a moderator is that you would constantly find faults (or lack of fun, etc) and that would pretty much be the end of it. You pointed out what you thought was wrong (and certainly you had some valid points), but instead of helping, guiding or leading, you simply would not do anything. That isn't/wasn't personal, Michael. It is/was (the slashes are annoying, I know. I hate trying to type in past and present tense) an observation.

Personality differences aside, your opinion and expertise is something valued and respected here. I was just hoping you'd act upon those opinions and expertise.

I'm not going to take the blame because CB as a whole never acted on any of my suggestions. I did make suggestions about how to change CB: things like relaxing rules a bit, implementing certain new features or ideas, enacting changes to policies regarding copyrights and so forth, etc. etc. I especially did a lot of that as a Head Staff member. But most of the ideas got caught up in red tape. They got discussed, agreements were possibly even made...and then they just never happened. Or my ideas got rejected—which is fine, I'm not always right, but you can hardly blame me for having some worthy ideas turned down or not even discussed.

So you'll understand if I disagree and say that I didn't act on my ideas. As the By-Laws showed, it's CB's nature to discuss things forever and then never really do anything. And that's not my fault.
