Sorry, does makeup fit into Girls' Locker or Fashion? You can move this accordingly. =)
Anyway. I've been reading up on this for the past few weeks on various blogs, and I have to say, it looks really great. The ads look great, if not a little airbrushed (but come on, now, this is Barbie we're talkin' about). Oh, and it's the first line of MAC makeup to have its own separate website: http://www.barbielovesmac.com ![]() ![]() ![]() Thoughts? |

I'm not appalled by young girls using makeup. I'm just disappointed that MAC has lowered it's standards to such an extent. Yes, Barbie is an iconic figure in fashion, but cmon, seriously?

I'm not appalled by young girls using makeup. I'm just disappointed that MAC has lowered it's standards to such an extent. Yes, Barbie is an iconic figure in fashion, but cmon, seriously? Honestly, I love the Barbie Loves MAC stuff. & I'm saving up to get some. I do a lot of experimentation/art w/ make-up & stuff, which is why I'm in a few makeup groups on xanga & Myspace. But I don't think that the association with Barbie is really going to encourage younger girls to wear make-up & I think we're blowing it a little out of proportion. As one person said, Barbies are over around 7 or 8; & then it's Bratz dolls. But for most of us & older women, our childhoods were all about Barbie; nothing but Barbie. So I think it appeals to people in their 20s & 30s, marketing a more youthful look for them. Don't blame MAC for younger girls wearing makeup; little girls have been getting play make-up kits for ages now. I love the brightness of their makeup, but just consider the fact that it takes primer, shadesticks, &/or more than 1 color to get their sometimes. MAC makeup is meant to be bold, bright, & dramatic; after all the company began marketing for stage performers & dancers. |

Neh-neh.
I think Barbie + MAC is amazing. It's a great idea. Do you guys forget that MAC also paired with Disney? If you want to prevent little girls being sluts, then all of you guys should wear that hardcore Muslim garb. Be good role models :p |

i persnoally think it's a creative and fun ideaa (: the makeup looks pretty nice, too. i always thought that barbie kind of had that classy feeling to it, too (in some instances). comeon, haven't you guys seen those anniversary dolls (and how expensive they are?
![]() the problem of little girls buying this makeup and making them look like 'whores' will probably always occur. there can be much, much worse. for example, i just saw two little elementary school girls walk out of victoria's secret buying thongs the other day...i think it's a much worse case than them buying makeup. |

O_O elementary kids?! that's ridiculous. and disgusting. The funny thing about it is, the MAC loves Barbie make-up isn't even very bright. Sure, they have a few bold colors, but otherwise, it all seems very neutral and "pretty." Honestly, how many people have been able to look like a magazine EVERY DAY since they started wearing make-up? |

^yeah it's pretty shocking and disgusting isn't it? i've seen it so many times (spoiled suburban kids) that the only thing i (can) do is look away. -____-
i agree with michelle, with the exception of a few, the colors aren't even that bold. :D makeup is makeup. |

^ Yeah. Take a look at the eyeshadow section at your local MAC counter, their usual colours can be way more bold than that. And no one complained about little girls getting sucked in then, did they?

At the MAC store in my mall, they have mannequins and they're all dressed up and prettied like Barbie. I thought it was pretty cool.
The ads are gooorgeous. |

I think it's awesome.
Even after reading all of these replies, I don't understand how anyone could be vehemently opposed to it... but since I can't really afford MAC, I'll stick with my drugstore cosmetics. ![]() SOMEONE who does buy this, take pictures and let us see! |

I love the first picture with the model who looks like she's brainless. Perfect fit. I, like others, worry about eight year old girls wanting MAC makeup now. I don't think it's appropriate for someone that young to wear makeup, I don't care how nice it is. But it's up to the parents to be firm with their children if they believe that too. Its kinda like candy cigarettes. Yeah kids will want them and it's not a great idea that some company thought of this kind of marketing, but parents are for guiding children. And not everyone who lets their daughter (or son) wear this stuff is a bad parent and not every daughter (or son) is going to grow up into a no-steady-job, shopping-addicted, re-marrying "aunt" with body issues. But it'll happen to some.
QUOTE Oh, and it's the first line of MAC makeup to have its own separate website: Which redirects to MAC's website and then a Barbie page. Added on thought later. Doesn't the second photo look like those girls are a bit intimate? |

![]() it was ... extremely strange but i didn't let it deter me from buying some stuff (: and i'm glad the packaging isn't just cute, the mascara is really good (of what i've tried) |

QUOTE I think it's going to encourage young girls to wear makeup even more... Which isn't a good thing. They're already wearing mini skirts and low cut tops, it's disgusting. There are lots of parents out there who will get their kids anything they ask for. I agree ![]() They can't even put make up on the right way, so it makes them look like little sl*ts if you will. And I'm not saying that I can put it on good either. =X |
