I usually do but I once in a while, I slip up, e.g. using the word "like"... :x

It really annoys me when I hear someone talking on the phone in and his/her grammar is horrendous. Those gangsta-wannabes, man. whistling.gif

^ Haha. I do that, too. I use "like" way more than I would like to, but it's a habit now. I try to speak in proper grammar, though. It doesn't sound right when you don't. It annoys me when people don't. Makes me want to smack them and lock them in an English classroom.

Dude, grammar is tolly gay. Actually. I started using proper grammar to try and piss my cousin off. I guess you really can't understand sarcasm through an IM. Haha. But it has stuck with me ever since. It's more challenging, and I really just hate it when people use all these stupid little made up words that are just a fad. lol. <- Gay. BRB, guys. Gotta ask my rents if its okay to go to my friends for the killer sleepover. Cha.

Pfft. People need to grow up and learn the English language like it's suppost to be learn-ed. :D

Oh, the worse one I can think of is.....Iono.

SHUT UP AND LEARN YOUR LETTERS. It's not gonna kill you to <SHIFT> "i" <SPACE BAR> don<'>t know<.>

GOD!

Actually, I would say it depends on the language I am using.

I speak in catalan and spanish on a daily basis, and in english rather often as of lately (=P). While I do commit gramatical errors in all three languages, I think the ones done while speaking in the first two languages are "worse" because they're quite likely due to being careless. On the contrary, when I talk in english, mistakes are more likely to be caused by lack of practice and/or knowledge.

Overall, I try to speak as correctly as I can, depending on the conditions under which the verbal communication may occur.

Same here. I figure it this way, we have to abide by so much structure in life beit at school, work and in many other social environments. I'm not going to beat myself up if I do not "speak" with proper grammar.

Same. I try to speak properly, although sometimes I can't help it since most of the people I hang around w/ don't speak proper grammar, & it just kind of sticks to you. pinch.gif

Yeah, all the time. Just today, my counsellor praised my good grammar (she asked me "How are you?" and I replied with "I'm doing well", whereas most people would say "I'm doing good"). I have a serious pet peeve with well/good.

So do I. I cringe inside whenever a teacher messes that up but don't say anything.

Haha. Not at all.
Taking Latin helps you with English grammar.
I learned the difference between "who" and "whom" in Latin class..not in English class.

Sometimes my teachers don't even speak in proper grammar.

I like grammar, but I am making a lot of mistakes. I usually try to correct other's mistakes though. When talking....Thats a totally different story. Sometimes I talk like: "SHIT SON, OYU BEST BE GETTING ME SOME MONEY. I BUSTA GAT." But you know.....Thats talking so it's completely different. But I also make fun of people that don't know about their bad grammar usage like: "I don't got no mayonnaise."
I find that to be immensely funny.

&btw. I hate latin. It's so stupid. =]

I just speak what's on my mind. Sometimes, using improper grammar is the best way to get your message across.

I know someone who tries very hard to use proper grammar, but doesn't hold himself to the standard that he holds others... *sigh* He's very hypocritical when judging others, yet they still hired him for staff.... rolleyes.gif

I generally speak with the most correct grammar that I know, and if I mess up, I usually catch it and correct myself before someone else can.

I have to agree with this, though you spelled "counselor" wrong. tongue.gif
But it's okay.

I have this pet peeve with "well/good" too, but I think "should/could of" is a bigger pet peeve for me.

IT'S "SHOULD HAVE" and "COULD HAVE" AND IT SHOULD BE FOLLOWED WITH A PAST PARTICIPLE.

Who the heck puts a preposition after "should/could"? _dry.gif

Also, this phrase is a pet peeve for me too, for example, "I ate already."
It's "I have eaten already." I have always thought that the past participle is being used less and less in speaking.

Actually, it's both. Counselor and counsellor. =)

Oh, and if this is about spoken grammar, then "should of" and "should have" shouldn't be too big of a problem, since words tend to get dropped or mushed together when spoken quickly. I think it's more of a written pet peeve for me. Another written one that gets me is "alot". "Alot" is two words, people. A. Lot.

^ I don't know, actually. I even searched it up online. I admit, "counsellor" wasn't such a popular spelling (it was like, the 8th entry), but still. It was there.

Hahaha.
