Well, I think grammar mistakes in speaking are inevitable.
I fall victim of saying words like "You was" or "He don't" all the time because I tend to mix up singular and plural when I am talking. Especially in an unprepared speech when I am nervous, my grammar is really screwed up. At least I will try to speak in proper grammar during formal interviews, etc. How about you, do you speak in proper grammar? |

I think it just sounds weird when people are all trying to talk in slang. |

Wasn't there a topic like this already?
I try to talk in proper grammar. But, alas, the grammar part of my brain is quite lazy. |

Yeah, all the time. Just today, my counsellor praised my good grammar (she asked me "How are you?" and I replied with "I'm doing well", whereas most people would say "I'm doing good"). I have a serious pet peeve with well/good.

I speak with proper grammar about 90% of the time. It's during the times that I'm talking really fast (which isn't often) that I might screw up.

Its a little offensive. Thats really annoying. The whole do you act white thing. Lame. Anyways, fortunately for me, I go to a predominantly white all girls private boarding school. Yeah, I know. Anyways, I always speak in proper grammar. Everyone at my school does. However, funnily enough, I always have, ever since I was young. Maybe its due to the fact that I've always attentended Proper British Schools where grammar and proper english is prime. |

I dont know. I think it's probably half and half. I dont try to speak in proper grammar but it kind of just happens. I do use slang all the time tho. But if i hear someone speaking and they say I seen this person he they was im like ohh hmm, that sounds weird. If I get nervous im not really paying attention to anything i say. I guess it doesnt really matter as long as the other person gets your point, unless it is something professional like an interview or something like that.

Yeah, all the time. Just today, my counsellor praised my good grammar (she asked me "How are you?" and I replied with "I'm doing well", whereas most people would say "I'm doing good"). I have a serious pet peeve with well/good. FOR SERIOUSLY. I've corrected an English teacher on it before, and the class stared at me as if I was the incorrect one. I have my little made-up words, so it's not like I have flawless grammar, but I am constantly correcting incorrect sentences. "Where you at?" ZOMFG, that's a terrible one.

I usually do but I once in a while, I slip up, e.g. using the word "like"... :x
It really annoys me when I hear someone talking on the phone in and his/her grammar is horrendous. Those gangsta-wannabes, man. ![]() |
