Hmm.. I haven't seen Kyrogenix lately. I actually like mipadi's posts. He doesn't post a whole lot, but most of his posts are intelligent and thoughtful.

Just wondering, am I being punished (although seeing a warn count on a computer screen is as much punishing as carpet samples) because the last timed I was warned was Nov 06 and the last time I was verbally warned was weeks ago, yet my warn level has not altered, why is that?

If you recently had a verbal warning, then it means that you're not exactly improving, doesn't it? =\

If it's been a while since you were last warned and a moderator doesn't lower it, feel free to PM an appropriate staff member (People/Head Staff/Admin in this case) and he/she will look through your posts and decide. wink.gif

Azarel is doing a splendid job, and I'm glad she got modded. She's doing a great job, and is very helpful. Good job. flowers.gif

Also, maybe it would be more better if mods don't post in the sandbox that frequently.. Yeah, they can have fun and chit chat in there, but I think they should also moderator other places other than the sandbox and etc. (Just a thought, and I don't direct this to someone specific.)

I don't know if you guys have any control over the Chat Room mods, but they're jerks. I was banned, Shelby was banned, Jake was banned... mad people are banned (for no good reason at all). It's ridiculous. The biggest a-hole is this guy named lYRIks or something... He bans people for fun, and laughs about it in the chat. Actually, I know he does. I've seen him do it. I think that it's a bit rediculous.

I was having a "rap battle" with him for fun... I was totally kicking his ass, and he just bans me.

Jake, joins the chat, doesn't say anything except, "hey Holy Trinity Members, Holla!", and gets banned.

Shelby was just plain chatting.

I don't know, but if you guys don't do something about it. I might *hint hint*. shifty.gif tongue.gif whistling.gif

Oy. Getting amusement out of banning random people in an online chat room with people you don't know and will most likely never meet is pathetic.

Createblog forums and the createblog AIM chat were deemed seperate entities since the beginning. Since we don't have control over the chat, I don't think there's anything we can do about it. And is it highly likely that they will actually listen? The forums are a different matter, but not the chat. =\

I really think that there should be a feedback topic made regarding chat.

Here's my take though. If they are separate entities, then the link shouldn't be here, especially on the top navigation area. It isn't connected to cB, other than cB members chatting there.

Well, obviously people are not mature enough to handle it (or fair, it sounds). Make a new one that *is* affliated with cB with a limited amount of people who can ban. Those people do not necessarily have to be moderators here, however, they should at least be mature enough to not ban people simply because they say something they don't agree with or worse, just because they feel like it.

That is so ridiculous.

I agree... I can however use scripts to punt the bot that is hosting the chat while simultaneously creating a chat room with the same name... Hehe... ;]

Then I could ban that a-hole... I would control the chat hahahahahahha... infact, if I did this, I would release the source codes an programs to the public so that way everyone could f**k up the chat at the same time... :D

I could just get his IP address and help him clean out his hard drive... :D

*puts hand over mouth* teehee

*starts working on a fun java program*

Don't worry guys, I'll help you take control over the chat room...
thumbsup.gif

Good news... I talked to "Elated iPod" the owner of CB chat. He removed the jerk who was banning everyone, and unbanned everyone from the chat (a fresh start). He seems to be a really nice guy. Very approachable.

Looks like I won't do any bad after all... hehe innocent.gif

P.S. Lyriks is not a mod anymore.. :]

Posts merged, silly double poster :-P ((Duchess of Dork))

owner of cB chat? how is that possible? no one on aim is given special "mod" powers for certain chat rooms and rebecca, i highly doubt you'd be able to have someone "moderate" an aim chat room. it's not part of the program to advance people to a new level and have them have control of other things.

AOL as well as other progs allows chat owernship; I would know, I used to kick people out on AOL. :3

In any case, moderation power is the reason we tried to get the IRC chat up. It was a bit of a flop, though.

^There isn't, I know AIM, owned chatrooms, but all you need is AOL and a program to kick/ban people out, cbc did get a little wacky, and I'm an op now so I can help. If you get banned just say so, I'll unban if someone hasn't already. Gosh

There are no actual chat mods, some of the members have brought in bots in the past and that's how they "ban" people.

On a related note, why are people calling themselves "ops" now? Just don't bring the bot in and leave it the way it used to be.

..Then.. why? I guess I haven't been going in as much lately. Anyway, I just don't want anyone to get the impression that the chat is moderated, because it's not. It's always worked just fine without moderation.

Other than the chat talk in the performance thread, I'd like to say that Azarel is doing a GREAT job, and I'm very glad that she got hired. She did a great job on organizing the "Common Fonts/Brushes" threads. She's also VERY helpful. _smile.gif

This is elatedipod. I owned the chatroom because I was bored, and I thought I'd give operator status to people in there a lot since I'm not around all the time. They went ban crazy but I'm limiting ops. If you're a cb admin or something and you want to be op in the chat, just contact me. I don't really plan on dropping ownership.

Btw, yes you can ban with aim. I use AOL because it is much better to moderate chats with. If you think that aim doesn't give special moderation levels to people, guess again ;x.

While reading the rules to warning members and such I came across this:

Warnings/Suspension
  • Verbal warnings will be stated in threads and by means of p/m.
I have noticed that when you are given a verbal warning its stated in the thread. I have no problem with this, but I have been and have seen other members warned on several occasions where the staff members have announced to the community that my/their warning lvl had been raised. Particularly in these cases:

QUOTE(Rachel is love @ Jan 26 2007, 12:32 PM) *
Josh has already been warned for bashing.
-------------------

If this was seriously happening, I'd call someone to get help and then try to help em out too. Adrenaline is a crazy thing.

QUOTE(Libertie @ Jan 17 2007, 11:06 PM) *
Josh, that is morbid and uncalled for - you've already been warned for this, I'm sure you don't need me to ask you again, right?

QUOTE(I Shot JFK @ Feb 8 2007, 3:26 PM) *
Charming. You know full well that member bashing is against the rules. Your warning level will be raised, and the next offense will put you on mod preview.

I'll find more examples.... I need to goto bed... I like how James publicly reprimands Jeremy telling him his warning lvl will be raised. This type of thing should be done via PM...

They are supposed to be verbally warned both in-thread AND via PM.

Those examples are fine, but do you know for sure that in all those cases there hasn't been a corresponding PM? I just noticed they were all to you (sorry, I haven't had any coffee yet). Were you not given PMs for those? I know I've sent you PMs before. laugh.gif

Were any of those quotes by you? No, actually warnings that raise your warning lvl are not to be publicly stated. Verbal warnings, on-the-other-hand, are to be stated.
