I remember in this one Seinfeld episode, in his opening monologue he says that according to a national poll, more people are afraid of public speaking than death itself. He joked that that means that a funeral, most would rather be in the coffin than doing the eulogy.
![]() How afraid are you with public speaking, and what's so frightening? I talk a lot IRL, it's kind of ridiculous. I can go on and on and on, even during a timed presentation. I used to be so shy around adults, but now I love public speaking. Powerpoint presentations are ![]() |

I'm pretty good with public speaking, actually. I LOVE to talk, even IF it's about school things.

I always get shy, I don't know why.
Especially singing, in case my voice cracked or something. ![]() |

I'm alright with it. I get nervous at first and then as I go along--the feeling goes away.

An oral presentation is instant death. T_T I guess if I'm extremely prepared, I have little problem giving one but usually...I'm not...so you can see why I loathe them. XD

I get so nervous if I'm presenting something, you'll see me sweating and shaking and repeating words over and over. I hate speaking in front of a large crowd, doing it is so scary.

I shake a lot though it's not as bad as it used to be. Ahh, I get so nervous at first. And who can forget about dry throats? I always have to bring a bottle of water along. |

I don't like speaking in front of people I don't know well. Period. My public speaking class was the worst and I don't know how I managed to get through it. We even had to video tape all our speeches and my peers viewed them and critiqued what needed to be worked on. I managed to get a B+ so I guess I wasn't that bad.

I have glossophobia.
I cannot speak in public. My face gets all red and my voice gets lower and lower. Yeah it sucks. |

I don't mind public speaking, i actually like it sometimes. I'm not afraid to get up in front of a class or something and talk loudly.

I hate it with a passion. I have a studder so it's really embarassing to talk in front of the class.
Acting on stage is fine though. |

I like it.
I'm not into being confined to a detailed outline though. Just get the general topics, check the time every once in a while, and gooooo. It's fun. ![]() |

It depends on what I'm talking about.
But it's overall not a pain. I'm used to it. |

XD Same here, but the oral presentations (actually a test) are unprepared (because of the large amount of literature I have been studying in a semester). I get a random quote from a piece of literature I have been studying in the semester, and I have to speak in front of the class for 5 minutes, the preparation time is only 5 minutes too. In project presentations I am fine, but not those semester finals oral presentations. |

I was always shy around people if I had to make a speech or read something, but today, for example, I had to audition in front of 50 other kids for a part in a play, and I wasn't even nervous at all. Very odd for me, but hey. Maybe I'm coming out of my shell a little

I absolutely hate watching myself on tape. It's embarassing! I must get out of the room at any time that I see myself on a video, especially in front of my family and friends.I used to get the dry mouth thing all the time, so I chew gum before-hand hoping it'll prevent it. ![]() |

Public speaking has never been much of a problem for me. My issue has never been presiding over a group of people or commanding. I've always feared not being properly prepared for whatever I'm doing. Then again, doing what I do now, I have no choice but to be confident with speaking publicly. When you're expected to walk into a room, go to a firing range or camp site and demand respect because of who you are, being meek goes out the window.

I'm really apathetic now. I used to hate it, but I really don't care anymore. I think it's because I've performed so much now and I actually enjoy it rather than being scared of it.
