My computer keeps notifying me that I have low disk space. So it says click here to remove unecessary files, so I clicked and it ran the disk clean up. But after that it still said low disk space. And I've ran the disk clean up at least 5-7 times, and I've also defragmented too. But it still says that I have low disk space. What else is there for me to do?

It could be your page file usage is high... But I'm willing to bet you have a lot of stuff on your hard drive as well.

Well, you can delete some programs and files to clear up space on your current hard drive. Or you can buy another hard drive, maybe external.

How big is your hard drive? I have no idea lol. My computer is like 8 years old. It's just been updated every year with the new windows.![]() It could be your page file usage is high... But I'm willing to bet you have a lot of stuff on your hard drive as well. I don't think I do.try removing some programs to free up space? I've done that already. start > my computer > add/remove programs. ^ for win XP. if that still doesn't work, call the manufacterer? Well, you can delete some programs and files to clear up space on your current hard drive. Or you can buy another hard drive, maybe external. I've deleted programs and delted files also. I think it's the compressed files that's getting me. But I keep doing the disk cleans and the compressed files thing is still high.![]() |

wow for a computer to have lasted 8 years with consisting upgrades of new windows is quite something. PC's in the old days don't carry out alot of HD performance as you can see their space is quite low and limited. You can delete stuff and keep cleaning up your HD but the end result will remain the same. You are out of space. lol Sorry to sound harsh, but if you must save your comp I'd suggest getting a new HD with more space and probably upgrading your ram for a more satisfied performance. or better yet get a new comp =]

>< Mine is about 8 years too.. turned out to only have 12GB of space on my C:. You might wanna check out how much space you have, 'cause you might not have a lot of programs, but rather, just a tiny amount of space to store it in. Try going to start>>accessories>>system tools>>disk defragmenter. how many GB of space is there?

Hit windows key(the one with the windows logo)+E to open up "My Computer" then right-click on your hard drive, which is most likely labeled C. Click properties and that'll tell you what its capacity is, how much is used, and how much is free. Depending on how big it is, it might be time for a new one. Otherwise, there might be another problem.

Or get a new harddrive and use it as a secondary. They are pretty cheap these days. Especially for 100ish harddrives. I have about 1 TB (1000GB, 4 250 harddrives) so I never out of space. hehe

Okay, so I bought an external hard drive that has 160 GB on it, so now how do I use it as my main drive? Because everything still saves to the C drive.

I'm not sure how you can make it your default hard drive to save to, but every time you save, you need to choose to save to your external hard drive when selecting a folder to save to.
