She was away for a month-long competition but she's back and hopefully, we'll see more of her. _smile.gif

In a way, it was great because it allowed things to be more transparent to members and certain things were decided upon by the committee. It's fallen apart though and I'm wondering if it'll ever get written and if Ju-Sun really has any bigger plans for it. If not, By-Laws may dissolve some time or other.

Should anything be done about the inactive By-Laws moderators?

well, we're not exactly doing anything, are we? we're only needed when the by-laws need to be changed. activity should only be an issue when the by-laws forum is active.

urhm, I'm not entirely sure where to put this, but here seems good enough, and it doesnt merit its own thread.

Why must we limit the applications to one paragraph? I understand that mods dont want to read a novel from each applicant, but really, all people do is write one really long paragraph which is actually harder to read without losing your place. So why not let people write in normal, small paragraphs? i really doubt that it would lead to a HUGE increase in the amount that people write...

^Honestly, I don't see a problem in that. I don't see why we don't ask a few questions and see how they answer those and then give them room to give a paragraph.

Why bother with questions? just leteveryone write a random blurb or two.

that way, you get to see what THEY think is the most important bit of the job, which gives an idea of how well suited they may be

Last hiring session there was some Q&A via AIM. I think that would be a good idea this round as well (with it being clear that the Q&A transcript will be posted for all Staff to see Backstage).

I liked it because it gave us a chance to see exactly what James is referring to other than that which they can fit nicely into one paragraph.

I don't see why they cannot already do that. I also don't see how removing the one paragraph bit is going to change that. I don't mind if someone breaks it into smaller paragraphs.. there probably would be longer applications though. Perhaps it's easier to read but you can see which applicants have the ability to get to the point in a short and concise manner, which is always an asset.

The AIM Q&A is nice, as well.

To be honest, I would much rather read several small paragraphs and if someone did that, I wouldn't jump on them for "breaking the rules" because we all know that's a silly technicality.

edit; I don't have a problem with doing the Q&A this time either, but last time it got a little out of hand, almost like a game. >.< This time it should be dealt with more professionally, in my opinion.

The AIM interview was for candidates who the mods were on the fence about.

I swear that I have no malicious intent in this, but I'd like to know why Holly was promoted to design staff. Yes, she is extremely capable and competent in myspace.. but in the past month, before she was promoted yesterday, she had made a grand total of four posts in blogger/livejournal/xanga, and I have never seen her really active in those areas. ...

Well, from my side it is to my knowledge that Holly is proficient coding and design in almost all the design areas and would be of great help when maybe someone specifically assigned to one of those areas can't be around. Also, I would like to point out (and I hope she doesn't mind), that Dani was similar when she was first promoted to Design Staff. She mostly stayed in LJ. She didnt know much about myspace. We still thought she would be effective in those areas and she worked out really well on Design Staff

i would also like to request that if Q&As are carried out this time, that i be TOLD that the interview is an interviewrather than having what i though twas a normal conversation and then having it posted backstage.

I do think it would be beneficial (and I would personally like) to have all applicants interviewed this time.

Perhaps applicants could add a contact list to their applications?

AIM and such?

That would be nice if they could. Also, I think we should try to have a specfic date that we start carrying them out and have all the applicants know just so they are aware they will be taken place.

I agree with Rebecca that it would be really be nice if we could interview all the applicants.
