My unweighted for the last quarter was a 3.3. I wonder how much higher it would be considering im in all honors classes? I wonder if it'd be over a 4? huh.gif
Is Calculus really that bad? :[

My honors classes aren't weighted...and those are the lowest level classes I've ever taken.

But yeah, for me, calculus is every bit that bad. I'm terrible at math. I have a 69.4 at the moment. Which is a 79.4, but that's not actually reassuring in the least. I cannot believe I'm failing something this far into the semester and I'm thoroughly unamused. But to reiterate, yes, calculus is from hell.

^I have a D- in Calc at the moment, so yes, Calculus can just die.

Aaaand my un-weighted GPA has brought me all the way to the 12th percentile. Sheeet, I'm screwed.

I have a 3.64... something. lol. I'm close to honor roll, which is not normal for me. My grades right now are A+, A+, A, A, A-, B, B-. Those are pretty good for me, considering I barely passed last year.

Ahh I'm sorry. I didnt realize Calculus was that much worse than regular math courses. I wonder if Pre-Calc is any better?

So... your grade is higher being in a honors class? Like a B is raised to a A? ohmy.gif

Woah. I go to a private school... so they've never really told us that. They dont factor that in on our report cards or gpa. But I wonder if colleges do?

No, my calculus class is AP, which is why I get the 10 points. Grades at my school are raised like that for AP and IB classes, but not honors. However, many colleges will acknowledge the weight on AP and IB classes, but fewer will weight honors classes. It all depends on where you apply, and you have to check, because most schools have their own ways to look at your grades.

Of the schools I've applied to, I think 2 weight honors classes, two don't weight AP/IB or honors classes, and one weights AP/IB classes but not honors.

Wow, really? I always thought Honors classes did that too. sad.gif
What two colleges were they that would weight them? Were they major schools?

Thanks for all the help. lol. _smile.gif

Oh, not a problem _smile.gif

Yeah, all the schools I'm applying to can be found in the big college books and whatnot, because I figure I did not take this many AP classes just to go to some random school for the in state tuition.

I'm pretty sure Elon and the University of South Carolina weight honors classes. And maybe College of Charleston? I'm even less sure I'm applying there than USC, though.

You're from SC?

I'm in Florida, but I'll probably be moving to the upstate area, west of Greenville, because my dad's getting transferred for work.

So I'm mostly looking into schools in South Carolina now, since I have to live at home lol.

Lately I've been considering schools like Clemson, USC, University of Georgia, University of NC (Asheville), and Furman. My test scores are really good, but my grades are crap. So we'll see. _smile.gif

Thanks, thats good to know. Plus, I bet USC is a heck of alot cheaper.

Nah, I'm from Georgia, but I'm applyng to USC for the sake of applying to another public school, because none of the ones in Georgia are very appealing accept UGA, which is one of my top choices because of cost and whatnot. I also have absolutely no interest in living at home whatsoever, but I'd rather not be further away than like a 5 hour drive at most.
I'm not really interested in Clemson, even though I think it's closer than USC...but I still have yet to find a more valid reason as to why other than that I don't like orange. And Furman is altogether too conservative, and I'd go insane.

Really? I'm starting to think that there's more good schools in Florida than in Georgia and South Carolina. blink.gif
That sounds good... you wouldnt want to be too far from home. I dont really have an option though. I've been told for years that I will live at home and go to school locally. Ahh.

Clemson seems to offer the most majors that I'm interested in. I'm thinking about going into Engineering or the Medical field... and they're really big on sciences. Plus, where I plan on moving to, I would be within 15 minutes away. Its really the only decent school that would be within a decent driving distance. USC would only be like 40 minutes though. But yeah, I think the orange would be a little hard to get used to. I spent a summer in the area a few years ago, and it nearly drove me insane.

Too conservative? Eh, I havent read up that much on Furman. I'm guessing most private colleges are like that?

Ahhh I think im going to go crazy, looking up stuff. I only know about Florida schools. o_o

Eh, I haven't really looked at Florida because despite the positives, I don't think I could stand to be anywhere hotter. South Carolina and Georgia are fine, it just depends on what you're looking for. (UGA's probably not the best unless you live in state, since most people just go because tuition's practically free with the HOPE scholarship, but Tech's good if you want a tech school, and so on and so forth.)

That sucks about having to live at home. I'd die. I refuse. But yeah, I can't take the orange.

It's not really private schools that are conservative, per se...but most in the south are, yeah. The country club comparison seems to be a popular one in this book, but just judging by the people I know who have gone to Furman, I think it's likely pretty accurate. Looking at the book, it's supposed to be not very diverse, have a larger-than-average religious population, have a lot of rich southern types, and so on and so forth. Plus, I'm pretty liberal, so I don't think it'd work for me, but I'm sure it's fine for everyone else.

At least you're thinking ahead. I really put off looking into all this stuff far too long. But ahhh, I think I start getting notifications soon!

Ahhh! I thought I already replied to this a few days ago. Ooopsies. laugh.gif

Really? I didnt know that about UGA.

Yeah. They cant really stop me from leaving, but I have to stay if I want them to support me. lol.

I'm more moderate, so a little bit of conservative doesnt really bother me. I want a school with alot of southern charm, I guess. thumbsup.gif What's the name of the book? It sounds like it gives a variety of info.

Eh, I guess so. It all started out of boredom. Clemson seems to fit my needs the most so far. They seem to have the most majors too. Notifications? You've already applied to schools?

Well, I don't mean that as a bad thing necessarily, because UGA's actually gotten a hell of a lot better because of the HOPE scholarship, since it makes smarter people want to go there rather than leaving the state. However, it's pretty huge, and red, and personally, the only reason why I'm really interested is because of Athens' music scene.

The book that I was using was the Princeton Review's 361 best colleges, but the FISKE book it good too (more description, fewer stats). And yeah, if you like southewrn charm, go for it..personally, I can't stand it haha.

Oh yeah, some schools' deadlines have passed already. As for me, I wanted to make as many early action deadlines as possible so I could not wait forever to find out where I get in, so I've been done with UGA since like September, and the rest were in by mid Novermberish.
