I haven't seen it yet, but i've heard mixed reviews from my friends. Some of them really hated it and wanted their $9.50 back.
and some of them really loved it....

I dunno, but it does look good.
I kinda want to see it.
Maybe not in theater, but def on tv or something.

Yeah, I hear that it didn't depict the French Revolution/monarchy all too well. laugh.gif I mean they compare Marie and her court to a bunch of Californian teenagers, right? I still have yet to see it. I want to just because I like Jason Schwartzman and Kirsten Dunst, as well as the fact that I've read a lot on Marie Antoinette (although I'm sure the movie barely recounts anything that I have not read). shrug.gif

Part A of why I won't see it. I've been told that it's an utterly incompetent retelling of her biography.

I like Jason Schartzman in Rushmore, but other than that I'm just eh about him, which brings me to Part B of why I won't see it: Kirsten Dunst. When I read that she was cast in this role I could only react with a Xander quote, "Again I say... huh?"

I didn't think Jason Schwartzman was fit the part particularly well. I like him typically, and I don't know a great deal about Louis XVI, but I just didn't like him in this movie much for some reason.

As for the movie itself, it was hard to find a point. I spent most of the movie trying to decide it I liked it, and wondering why it just kept going on. There wasn't much purpose to anything that happened. She had an inconsequential affiar, after all the fretting she had children (who spoke French and English inconsistantly, which was irksome), and it didn't even indicate that she was beheaded at all. It was an entertaining movie, and it was very pretty, but I don't think it was actually a very good movie.

^ Yeah.
And the ending pretty much sucked.

They sorta made the main focus on the movie cake. It did show how she led France into great debt.

I wouldn't recommend it if you wanna watch it for historical accuracy, but for the setting and clothing, that's just beyond pretty.

I'm suppose to watch Marie Antoinette with French 2 class. But a few days before, my french teacher said it was boring. She said there was no plot, etc. But she did mention, the outfits, the place are gorgeous. So, we didn't go watch Marie Antoinette as a class since she thinks everyone will be asleep and bored of it. So she assigned it as extra credit if u see it.

I didn't see it, but I never plan to. Kirsten Dunst is hott though. =/

Hmm. I forgot about that one. He was pretty good in that. I still see him as the same guy in just about everything he does though. shrug.gif
