Why wouldn't geographical size contribute to making China one of the biggest producers?

And Taiwan has a bigger GNP per capita...though their economy sucks.

That reminds me of something really stupid my Australian teacher said. He thought if everyone in China jumped at the same time, it would cause a great Tsunami that will cover the whole of Australia.
