some of my friends can be EXTREMELY nerdy/geeky, even compared to me... i mean, it's not wrong or anything, it just gets sooo annoying sometimes. i know it's just part of their personalities or w.e., but i always feel like telling them to just stop talking and when i have no idea what's going on (like if they talk about star wars or something) they still keep on talking, like i understand what's so funny...

i dunno... *sigh*. does anyone else go through this?

Sometimes. Except they're not nerdy. I'm more nerdy than them, but I don't show it because I know that they don't like discussing science..

I always feel left out when they talk about Anime or Asian singers and stuff like that.. I just don't like that stuff. I find it annoying too. =/
I just sort of ignore it and sooner or later they stop talking and I jump in with something random.

Maybe you can just be like "What's that mean?" or something like that. Or you can learn to like the things that your friends like.. That's always an option.

You could always watch the stuff they do so you get what their talkin about. I mean who cares if your nerdy or not. You should base yourself off of what other people think. Take your friends for example, i bet they could careless if they sound nerdy because their laughing and having fun right? Think about that.

^ well the thing about what people think IS a factor, i have to admit. but nerdy is more like a description of what it generally means, you know? it's just that i'm NOT interested in that stuff... it was just something on my mind i guess.

i totally understand you. everyone has different interest and different ways to talk.

Well, even in a group of really close friends, everyone has their own interests. Okay, so your "nerdy/geeky" friends like Star Wars. So what? There are lots of other interests that you have with your friends, and your other friends might find that common interest annoying to them, too. As long as you can find that balance without making people feel left out, things'll work out.

If you sincerely think that you're being left out too often, then let them know. If they're your true friends, they'll do something about it.

Then again, I also really don't like party poopers. I have a friend who hates pretty much all things Asian - music, movies, celebrities, even the culture (she's 100% Asian, though). And everytime we discuss things about it, she rolls her eyes at us. Yeah, she might be feeling left out, but it doesn't mean she should disrespect our interests, you know? Make sure it doesn't go out of line.

You should listen to them. Maybe you'll learn something that'll help you out in the long run.

I have friends like that too. Except they're overly anime obsessive. I'm not obsessed with anime, but they are OVERLY, so yeah. I guess that's a similar situation. I do agree with [X]poised though. You should listen. I actually learn stuff from them while they keep talking about anime shows. But if they do get to the point where you can understandanything, since they are your friends, ask them to explain what in the world is going on. Not that hard. :P They should understand. Or change the subject. XD

yeah i have some so so friends like that, they start talking about WoW and crap and then thats when i get up from the lunch table and go sit with some other people.

If you think your friends are too nerdy for your own good, then maybe you don't even deserve their friendship. Friends are supposed to appreciate each other's qualities, not hate them.
