I had my first boyfriend at 12 .. we were seeing each other for just over a 2 months.
I had 2 this year, my parents were okay with it as long as I didn't do anything I would live to regret. Because they were both older than me, my parents did worry a bit. My parents said I am allowed to have a 'proper serious' boyfriend this year, because next Feb, I'll be 15 and they don't want to 'lock' me down. They also go on about not letting a boyfriend distract me from my studies. I don't let him go that far into my head to be able to do that anyway =] |

many teens don't listen to their parents when i comes to that kind of stuff. u can't control your feelings. and if a boy likes you back you can't resist in having a relationship. well that's just me. XD

my grandpa is extremely strict. i underestimated him. he says "NO BOYS!!" and he definely means it. cuz i found out something horrible.he put a spyware in the computer to see who i talk to and crap.

There isn't a certain age. And usually, parents don't want you do date because they're scared it's going to influence your studies.

My parents have never gave me the bf speech really but my sister has. she said i can't have one until after highschool and with good grades

Yeah, there's no specific age, but IMO nothing under the age of 15 could be serious. I started dating when I was 14, and as long as you keep it casual until you're older, there shouldn't be a problem.

I had a "sorta" bf before, but we never really hung out cuz we were like long distance. Other than that kind of "relationship" my parents won't let me date till my last year of high school.

Hm..no age that you're "supposed" to get a bf. I had my first "real" bf when I was 16 and needless to say, didn't work out right. So I went off guys for a while....and now I have a boyfriend...a little bit more serious than the last one I must say and we're both 18.
So what I'm saying is, no certain age where you're "supposed" to get a bf. It's not school where you're "supposed" to be in a certain grade by the time you're a certain age. Just be yourself, and when the right guy comes, you can be involve. As for asian parents...ehehehe...I'm dating behind my Mom's back even though I'm allowed to have a bf. Just don't want her to give the speech on how I should FOCUS on school and not the bf and blah blah blah. |

I have asian parents...and they never told me about "oh, you can only have a boyfriend when you're...."
My parents are weird though[they act like teenagers -.-], so it really depends on the parents. But I think the best time you should date is in high school. People have more sense during those years[or I'd hope so]. It's up to you really. If you want to have a bf and go behind your parents back, do it. If you want a bf and confront your parents about it, do it. If you want to do what they say, do it. It's all up to you. |

they've actually never talked to me about it.
but i think up to college / after college is really overprotective and really really far. i think high school is just fine although there is no set age. it's just when you feel you're ready to understand and have commitment and everything to be in a 'real' relationship, not just a really short childish middle school like one. |

You don't have to have a boyfriend by a specific age. It's just whenever you find someone you want to date and who also wants to date you, you start going out with them. Don't feel worried about finding one so soon.
It sucks about your dad, but sometimes it's better not to have to worry about dating until you're older. Really. |
