Every kid growing up has naive, childish fancies to what life is really about. Kids are full of innocent misconceptions, narrow perspectives.

What were yours as a kid?

Mine:
As a toddler, I was pretty sure that my toys had feelings.
Adults had a flawless, god-like status, and always intimidated me.
I thought all women were mommies, no questions asked (yay, society for making me think that!).
I wanted to be an artist when I grew up, and didn't understand my parents when they told me it was near impossible.
I also thought as a last resort, I would be a president when I grew up, hahaha.
I didn't know what an air conditioner was, even though we always had one. When my mom shouted the typical, "Close the door-- we're not paying to keep the outside cold!" I never understood.
All parents existed for was to make your life full of pain. A result of being physically abused, I'm afraid.

The only thing I can remember at this moment is that shoes can go on either foot.
I thought that until I was like 6! Seriously!
I thought shoes were more comfortable the other way around.

As a kid I thougth you had to be born famous. Like I didn't know your average person could work hard and get on the radio. I just thought the people just...did it. Boy when I found out that wasn't the case I was like well thats what I'm gonna do.

I also used to think that actors were the actual character. Like Mary Poppins was Mary Poppins in real life, not Julie Andrews. So I would get confused when I watched the Sound of music cuz my mom would say see her? thats Mary Poppins. very confusing.

I also thought that China was from China. Adn it was a chinese thing. And I never got why we ate out of it.

And I used to think when people said foggy they were saying it was froggy outside. And I could never find the damn frogs pinch.gif

Same thing with being hoarse. I never saw a horse either.

A sad one is when I was really young I used to think all movie with real people in them (a la not cartoons) were bad like pronography. Thanks to having a mom who was a stripper who had a habit of being home disgusting dirty jerks home every night. Here night 'career' also led to me having an irrational fear of torms...because I was left at home all the time and was caught in a tornado. I would actually put on mary poppins (the only movie other than sound of music and willy wonka with real people i watched til I turned like..10) and wear headphones so i wouldnt hear the storm or see the weather warning on tv. I'm still scared to death of storms too.

wow theres a lot of crap I discovered. I'll never forget when I figured out the clitoris wasnt a broken nerve and it was actually supposed to feel like that. HAHA! I used to think I was severly broken hahahaha.

Enough embarassing crap :)

I thought that, too!

Haha, I thought that sex meant a guy and girl had to hug and kiss. That's all I saw in the movies before my mom fast fowarded it, so for the longest time, I truly though that was how babies were made.

^ heyy thats funny there was a topic on that . but when i was little i had many misconceptions about life . i lived in a fantasy world i swear....more then most kids until 16 ...whats worst before is i kept on denying the truth , which even more difficult for me and my family members to go by .

- what starlette said i used to believe that famous people were famous because they were talented ....haha now i know it takes more then just talent .

- i thought my parents wanted me to get the best ...because im good

- i thought everyone in school including high-school were jackasses . whene apparenty are not

- i thought everyone was against me ....EVERY SINGLE person surrounding me . talking behind my back

- i used to always believe that the older sibling was to take care of the younger one i was was wrong .

- i used to think that having an expensive house made me feel rich ....which i hardly think so as of right now

- i used to think to get friends you would just have to entertain them ...and theyll come up to you and just start being your buddy ....i was too conceited my talent took me over.

- i always thought people knew what i was thinking when obviously no one really knew .

- i used to think everyone loved each other ....where there were no cultural differences put aside ....and i always thought everyone in school had pusit (fried squid) and rice for breakfeast everyone in school thought i was sick .

- i thought english was easy to understand and communicate ...it really isnt ...just look at my grammar as of right now . lol.

there are alot more

When I was little, my mom told me that she bought me at the store for $5. I was like " ohmy.gif Really?" I even told my friends and teachers XD.gif

How when you got older you would tell your parents you were going to be the first woman president. laugh.gif

Toys had feelings, they could even talk!
Just no one else could hear them

Looks like someone thought the same, but yes all characters in movies I thought were really real, and not just some actor or something. I remember the day I actually found that out, it was probably my best blonde moment yet.

Everything had feelings. Paper bags, cups, sheets of paper. And throwing them out hurt their feelings.

When I was a kid I was really attached to my mother. I thought she would never die and stay 38 even after she passed her 40's (she's 50 now). Then when I was 7 my brother told me that mom will die once she turns 50. I was so scared for 2 weeks until my mom was wondering why I was being unusually REALLY nice to her.

When I was 8 I think, I thought fireworks were made of pixie dust.

I thought if I drank sea water and ate a lot of fish I can be a mermaid (then a day later my mom told me that it was impossible)

I thought rain meant God crying and sunshine meant God is happy. (I think this was a common misconception for kids who were raised religiously)

I forgot what age this was but I remember thinking that God put a lot of cash under my parents' pillows during their sleep for being such good Christians

I also thought that the sun was actually really small (the size of what it looks like from earth, not a gigantic star).

You know how sometimes your socks go down in your shoes and then they are half way off your feet. I used to think that my shoes were alive and trying to eat my feet but my socks were some sort of force field that protected my feet.

when i shared a room with my grandmother, i slept in a bed and she slept in another bed next to mine, but across the room. i would turn the other way when i slept thinking that the living dummy from goosebumps was under her bed staring at me.
