It is best if you wax your underarms regularly. Underarms generally look dark due to thick hair under the skin, caused by shaving. Waxing removes hair from the root, so there is no hair under the skin, and the underarms look clean. Also, regular waxing reduces hair growth over a period of time. How long it takes differs from person to person. Often, as soon as you wax for the first time after shaving for a long time, your underarms look much cleaner and lighter. This is because the hair is a lot thicker, so the wax gets a good grip and pulls it all out. There are chances your armpits may bleed very slightly, so don't get unduly worried if this happens.

Dark armpits is due to not changing your razor as often as youre supposed to. (Doctor told a friend of mine). I suggest you change your razor more frequently now from preventing it getting darker, but I don't know if you can get rid of it. Maybe wazing just once will change it a bit, if there are hairs the razor can't get out.

But yeah, my friend said that's what her doctor told her. Dark/black armpits are from using your razor for too long that you should without changing it.

my advice is to get them waxed I guess, but I dont think its a big deal :) I'm sure many people have dark armpits too, but if you want to do something about it, then try the stuff up there that the girls mentioned about. :)

u can't find them in the US i think. or if u do it's kinda rare. people in Asia are like obsessed with having fair skin while in the US people like haveing tans. so where i live there are whitening deoderants and they actually work too.

I need some help. I'm a half-asian girl with fair skin and dark hair, and my armpits look horrible from plucking. My armpit have turned dark, which is very embarrassing, and it seems that some of the root areas have darkened and sometimes look spotted/infected...redness and some are dark. I'm guessing this is because of tweezing/hair removal.

Should I see a dermatologist? Is there a home remedy? Or am I simply tweezing incorrectly? I've always been self-conscious about this, and now I finally want to do something about it.

How can I remove this darkness/spottiness, and all-around-disgusting-looking armpits effectively and safely?

Thanks for your help!

Hm. Do you wash your armpits regularly?

Also... when you pluck out hair that's not meant to be plucked out, there's a chance that you damage the papillae that's at the base of your hair follicle. When you do that, it ruptures the capillaries in that area and blood goes up through the roots. Since you pluck your armpit hairs out... I'm guessing that might be what's causing the spotted redness.

For the darkness.. I'd scrub regularly with soap. It should look cleaner within a week or so if you wash every day. I used to pluck and have that problem when I was about 13-14... and that pretty much solved everything.

Except... I don't pluck anymore. I don't really have a problem with ingrown hair, so now I shave.

Yes, don't pluck - shave. Venus razors work like a charm. Perhaps use some sugar scrub, and then soap. I use Dove deodorant, and it really does great things for the underarms.

As it has been suggested, wax, don't shave! And I wouldn't recommend bleaching as the area is highly sensitive. pinch.gif

I think it's because of your colorfulfont that causes you to have dark nasty armpits.

Anyways, don't shave your armpits. Use silk epil or like those plucking thingies, or just wax.
