Oh well - who cares about the paragraph specifics. ... I did.. ANYWAY, it's not important. Let's focus on the things we need to discuss more thoroughly - applicants and whether or not they would make good staffers.

QUOTE(sadolakced acid @ Aug 4 2006, 10:38 AM) *
i'm going to say this to everyone applying.

modding isn't fun. sure, for the first few days you have a ball doing cool stuff like closing and moving topics. but then you get a spammer, and because of stupid restrictions you can't ban them. They're running around and you have to clean up after them. AND people yell at you for not doing anything about it.

there are a lot of chores. for instance, moving layouts to the new system, that was a chore. every single layout was manually moved by staff members. by some more than others, i'll add. (not by me.)

everyone hates you. They think you're biased, evil, and power grabbing. you don't get to break any forum rules, not because the admin will demod you, but becuase then you see a bunch of people going into moderator performance and complaining about how "mod so and so was off topic in this thread" and such.

you have to be online. If you take a break, you have to post how long you'll be gone. You can't log in when you say you'll be gone to just check up on things, because then people will start riding you for not doing your job.

you have to mod. It sucks. you have to move topics even when you don't feel like it. People PM you and comlain about it, and then you have to move them back. Other mods, as well as members, give you heat for moving it back. You can't just warn people anymore, now you have to type out a verbal warning, be nice and then the person will PM you back "f**k you shitface lick my balls".

And that's just people staff.

Design staffers have to deal with people in the help forums. They have to deal with people PMing them about why their layout was rejected when it's obviously crap. They get people asking why thier layout wasn't accepted yet when they just submitted it.

And then, when you just want to complain just a bit backstage to other mods, someone else gets in there and gives you shit for it.

that being said, good luck to you all.

also:
There are some of you applying that a lot of people seem to support. I don't think you should apply. Not because you'd be bad mods, or are bad people. But because you don't seem to be the type of person who likes to deal with other people's shit. You know who you are.

worthy.gif I LOVE YOU JUSTIN. <3

Honestly, I would give some comments on those applying if I'd stayed around for the past month or so, but I didn't, so sorry about that.

I figure everyone is leaveing their opinions of the candidates so I guess I'll shoot mine off too:

My:

Do's

James Dang - You are very new, but I really love your ideas. You are also very active. I love how you stress the fact that you want to make Cb a place where everyone can still share their opinions/ideas and keep the atmosphere pg-13.

I Shot JFK - Seems genuinly concerned about the well beign of this site and its community. Although I don't know you very well, I really think you a great person.

Ada - you have been incredibly nice to me ever sence day one... Shes awsome, and would make a great peoples staff.

Nate - We have had some intresting debates... although we totally dissagrea, I would think that nate would make an incredible peoples staff.. he has a very different perspective on life, which gives him the ability to think outside the box. I think He is an awsome candidate... YOU ARE AMAZING.

Don'ts

Kathleen - seems power hungery, she has made entire topics devoted to what I consider ratting people out... she also consitantly talk about how the job hasn't been getting done... I'm worried that she will be a major tyrant, and thorn in our sides... application seems pretty conceited I'm a supervisor at my job in crossgates mall, and I throw out applications like this... I feel that people like this start problems in the work place.

It may seem like i disslike you Kathleen, but... truth is, I feel like you advertise yourself... You rat people out for things, tell mods to close topics, and talk about how great you are all the time... it's rediculous... I don't hate you, I just don't like how you carry yourself, and I don't see anyone else asking for the possition acting the way you do... i question your ability to be a staff member even though you have been one in the past. I believe being a staff member is something that needs to be earned by haveing a professional additude. I don't think you have that. Then again, I am only stating my opinion, and will not be offended by your opinion of me.

P.S. I assure you all that me and holly's relationship will not by any means start drama within Cb. Infact the reason I applied for peoples staff was so that I would be in a separate department of the website. I don't want drama, and will pormise not to bring it too the web site.

Hey, thanks a lot, Josh.
That means a lot. We did have some pretty intense debates and we disagreed on nearly everything, but we still got along. We both understood that it was never personal. You're a good guy, thanks again! thumbsup.gif

Also, thanks to everyone else who has supported me. It's great to know I have some moral backing. I'll try my best not to disappoint! wink.gif

Just becuase I'm young doesn't make my opinion any less important that yours. I know that I'm an very intellegent person, and I am very involved in the hiring proccess at my job here in albany new york. I have lead my boss to hire many loyal employee's. I have had pleanty of poeple come to me with the additude that she has, and I have turned many people down becuase of that additude. Yes, she does want to be the best, but even while looking at her application I see her attempting to aquire the job by trying to make staff feel guilty if they don't do it. How does saying, "Basically, if I don't get promoted, it's because of your personal grudges against me, not because I'd be a bad moderator." give you a good impression that she will make a great member. It's redicuous that she can even say anything like that, would you? Would you ever put that on an application? I know I sure as hell wouldn't. I would encourage my boss to crumple that paper up and throw it in the garbage. How can you say she will "change" after she is appointed staff. Arn't you supposed to conduct yourself in a professional manor to acuire a possition for a job. That's what Cb staff is. It's a job. I would personnaly never goto an interview carrying the additude that I was better than the current staff members. I'm sure many of the staff members don't like her... in fact I know this, and it's for many of the reasons I have stated above plus some. How is someone that doesn't even get long with many of their own co-workers going to be able to function at a job without creating drama. the only reason I hire people like this at work is to give them a lesson in humility by fireing them afterwards.

Nate, honestly if there is anyone that deserves to be staff I think it's you. I tell that to holly everytime the time when the topic comes up, and because we are both pretty wrapped up in this web-site that is pretty often XD...

P.S. As for me, I wouldn't mind being Design staff.... I love art and I spend hours on photo shop creating the things that I love. The only reason I didn't apply for the possition of Design staff was that I didn't want to run the risk of you guys thinking me and Holly would create drama. On the otherhand I would love to become design staff, and if you give me a chance I'm sure I could become one of the most devoted design staff members you could ever have. Art is so important to me, and I would love that position. I guess andother reason I would love the position would be that it seems the rules in the design section are more cut and clear when it comes to making judgment call about where and when to close topics. They rarely ever to the point where makeing a judgement call over something that may not be pg-13 is needed. Most of the things they need to do seem to be everyday jobs. Well, I know I could accompish that task, I enjoy checking out all the things that people create, and I would love to do all the dirty work around this site (accepting and declineing artwork/layouts). I guess what I'm saying is that I don't want staff to rule me out of that possition.

An intelligent person, eh? That made me chuckle, considering the fact that I'm supposedly younger than you and can correctly spell the following words:

attitude
definitely
constantly
dislike
ridiculous
position

And, well, there are more, but I don't feel like reading your posts again. _smile.gif I don't understand where all this "ratting people out" thing comes from, though. I've told you about three times now what the intent of my thread in the Feedback forum was about. Aside from your inability to spell, I suppose you cannot comprehend words very well, either. rolleyes.gif

I appologize for not knowing how to spell as well as some. I don't use spell check in most of my posts, but as long as you understand what I"m trying to say I don't think I mind. I don't think that talking on a forum requires spelling so much as the ability to understand what the other person is saying. many times, people tear you up for spelling and grammer when either:

-they have nothing left to say

or

-it's so bad they can't understand you

Other than this post, I will be sure to use spell check from now on... Kathleen, I sincerly appologize for not spelling those words correctly, and from this piont on I will make it a goal to do so.

Kathleen, I only say these things with the hopes that someday you will become a better person.

Yeah, but if you noticed, I also pointed out the fact that you have repeatedly failed to understand the meaning and reasons as to why I posted that in Feedback. You say that I must not have anything to say if I'm tearing you up for spelling and grammar when you yourself did not address that bit in my post. rolleyes.gif Besides, knowing and using correct grammar and spelling reveals a lot about a person. For one, intelligence. Another is whether or not they're too lazy to mosey on over to dictionary.com. clap.gif

I decided to not apply and strike out my application for mod, besides school for me is less than two weeks, I don't think I will have time.

Okay. Here's why I don't think Josh (Uronacid) will make a good People Staff person:

For one (despite what he says), I don't like the idea of him and Holly being on Staff together. Seeing as he lacks the actual concept of them being on Staff together (he believes applying for People Staff actually makes a big difference), he doesn't know what he'll be getting into. As a member, I've seen them bash quite a few people with him as a member. Who's to stop that when they're both moderators?

Secondly, he displayed his furtiveness to me as he PMed me, and added, "Keep this on the DL," as if the admins can't read it anyways. rolleyes.gif

Also, am I the only one who thought he came out of nowhere? I mean.. his posts aren't very full of meaning. I have to leave, but I'll add onto this when I get back.

I think the admins and head staff make the final decision.
