I was wondering...

Does anyone keep a journal? You know, like a diary? I don't mean and online blog or anything. I mean paper and a pencil. Remember those? Haha.
I recently found my old journal that I kept from ages 6-14. I had a lot of fun reading it, so I decided to start writing in it again because I'm about to turn 18 and I think I'll be interesting to look back on all this stuff that's goin' on when I'm older haha. And I'll have somethin' to show my kids.

So yeah, do you?

it's weird, i kept one from second grade, which i laugh about. and kept one from sixth grade which i wouldn't dare to look back in. i have lot of pretty journals, empty though. im afraid to write in them actually. i say it's b/c i write bad and don't want to ruin the pages but im sure it's more than that, im just not telling myself. so i just write in old school notebooks. like, i write one page in one notebook, then go do it again in another one. they're all over my room

I think it'll be cool when I'm older cause it's handwritten, ya know? It's more personal. I like reading my grandmas about the depression and WWII and stuff.

Ha, me too! They're everywhere in my room. I usually write poetry in those. I hate it though because I can never find anything. I write on a couple pages then never use it again and when I do write again, I end up using a new one. I have to flip through them all to find anything haha. I need to get organized. -_-'

I do, I have a lot. All finished and filled. Well, except for the one I currently write in.
I've been writing in journals (and actually kept up with it) ever since I was like..ten years old.

I had one when I was really young, and I went through a phase where I did what I called serious "journaling" for about a year in high school. My journal was a thick, text-book sized, hardcover book with blank pages and I'd just write wherever in it. I also took magazine clippings, photos, ticket stubs, colored pencils, markers, anything.. Every page was pretty.

I burned everything I could find last summer.

I used to when I was like 11. I sounded weird.

And I found one those old journals that were pink and they came with the little necklace with the little ballet shoes hanging from it. LOL. I sounded weird too.

Now it's just seperate pieces of lined paper I write on when I just need to vent.. or when i'm bored I just write.

Hahaha.. I found an old from 03' the other day and it was so hilarious.. and well lame.

Right now I kind OF keep a journal or WAIT well I don't know. Anyhow. When I turned 18 I decided to write a will (my senior class had the most deaths) so I started writing it in an old journal. It's actually quite comical like the fact that I wish for only people who truly knew me to attend my funeral. You must be invited. haha. Sometimes I put in random thoughts. I don't think many young people think about dying but I'll be prepared if it comes sooner than planned.

Yeah I like handwritten journals especially since you can see how your handwriting progresses over time. laugh.gif It may not be much, but still. I used to keep one from seventh to tenth grade. When eleventh grade came, I never found the time. pinch.gif

I've kept one for the past six years, since May 2000. It's stretched to about four volumes and several hundred pages now. It's really interesting to read over, and see what was important to me at various points in my life--what I focused on at certain times.

I really enjoy writing in it, but I also think of it almost as an obligation, something to leave behind for descendants to read and reflect upon.
