if you go back to asia, the kids there are a lot smarter/hard working in school than the american kids here. my goodness, korean and chinese schools are insane. i'm not 100% why, but asians pretty much value education a lot more.

Every country values education more then America. mellow.gif It's a shame too.

I heard japanese people are really smart because they eat a lot of sashimi ermm.gif

edit;;
That's racist! mad.gif

Eh, while the comment concerning a "non laid back" China may have been out of place and immature, it was by no means racist. Just a comparison of the governing tendencies of the USA and China.

We aren't. Typically, asian parents push their kids harder because they know since they are a minority, they must be always a step ahead. But, as generations grow and grow, the less fob, the more "average" the grades. Of course by saying this, I am further sterotyping so ill just end it with the, "No we aren't."
Btw, Im a good driver. _smile.gif

No one really ever pushed me, yet I know about so many things, I wouldn't really say I'm booksmart though.

Asians are smart cause they invented the abacus. Duh! Everyone knows that.

Just kidding. Why are people, in general, smart? And what makes someone smart anyway?

They(the Chinese) also invented paper!

if you go back to asia, the kids there are a lot smarter/hard working in school than the american kids here. my goodness, korean and chinese schools are insane. i'm not 100% why, but asians pretty much value education a lot more.

Actually, Japan values education even more. I didn't know the one about them committing suicide if they couldn't get into a good university, but I do know that they learn very differently. A lot of times, they go to school so much because they try to memorize everything.

Which proves my point. Doing good at school doesn't mean you're smart. There are a lot of asians that do great at school, and I'll have to say that some are not smart to me. They just work hard. If I'm going to stereotype, I'm not going to say asians are the smartest, asians are the hardest working. They actually want good grades and education enough to work hard for it, and some parents are great motivation (to put it in the positive light).

Personally, I don't live with my dad, or he would push me so hard about my grades. And my mom, even though she cares if I get one or two more B's, she doesn't push me like some other parents do. I push myself, and I value it because I value knowledge. I value my future because I don't want to go to some crappy college/university and have some crappy job. It's my personality that pushes me..that I NEED to accomplish.

And I doubt a lot of asians are like that. It's a different perspective on how to judge how one is smart, but performance in school is definitely not how I judge it. If you see an asian girl that knows how to do a math problem you don't, it doesn't necessarily mean she is smarter. It means she has done the problem before, paid attention in class, and done the homework.

How I judge if she is smart is, how long it took her to figure out how the problem, or how she speaks, what vocabulary she uses. Her views on different topics and how mature she is about different views. Oh my God by the time I get to the last point, some adults are still as stupid as hell. Which is another difference between experience and actually being smart.

Not a lot of people think of hard working and being smart differently for some reason. I assume it's because people think hard working IS a trait of being smart. Well, not to me. Therefore I don't think asians are particularly smart. Everyone is different.
