It was 30° C this afternoon, I wore a little top. Anyways, this 'big' girl looked at me and said 'Oh my God, you're so thin, like a skeleton' and I was like 'Oh my God, you're so fat, as a ballon'.
 She got really pissed off and insulted me.My friends say I should apologize. Like hell I am.  People are crazy. Should I apologize? |

Hell no. Dont apologize. I get that all the time since I'm a bit over weight. I'm comfortable with who i am people. And what do they care anyways???Its no their body! Personally these days i think people should look themselves in a mirror first before start saying crap about other people

I certainly wouldn't apologize. I've had people say that before to me...or something to that effect. Usually i just force an awkward smile, next time i'm going for the "OMG, You're really fat!"

I really hate that double standard. I used to be alot thinner when I was younger (15'sh) and people used to always say "you are SO skinny" and honestly what do you say to that "um okay?" haha. I remember thinking "would you go up to a fat person and say you are so fat?" because it's pretty much the same thing. I think those people just don't think before they speak and should die because it is usually offensive.

Hah! That really made me think... I remember when I was a bit younger i was really skinny... and like people would come up to me and tell me oh my gosh you are like a stick! go eat something. ANd then I would get pissed off. And they would wonder why. Stupid people.

whoa..i have never thought of that..never thought of being called thin as an insult..whoa... b/c usually during this..era? everyone wants to be thin b/c its the cool thing..so i guess she was maybe trying to compliment u/admiring u b/c u were thin? b/c thats what alot of ppl want to be right now.. of course in another century..like..1800's..it was good to be chubby..so ppl would actually get insulted if they were called thin..
wow. amazing. anyways. yeah if u considered being called thin an insult then u shouldnt apologize. i've been called thin and twiglike before but i guess i was more flattered than insulted.. b/c my mom is always calling me fat and saying how its better to be thin..so i guess i thought it was good when ppl called me thin |

That's really bizarre.
I definitely agree that people don't know how harmful it can be to call others really thin, or "skeletons" - I think it's just as harmful as calling people fat. People used to call me anorexic, even though I wasn't, so, I can tell you from experience that it doesn't make you feel all that great. |
