To be Single? Or not to be.

In my case, it's not that nobody likes me..
Plenty of guys like me (not to be conceited), it's just that I'm searching for a boyfriend who I can talk to like a good friend, & at the same time be intimate. I can never seem to be able to mix those two elements.

Sometimes I say that being single is better, funner, etc.. but at the end of the day I sometimes find that my only reason for saying so is to make myself feel better. ermm.gif

Trust me, I know how you feel.
I'm the exact way.
And the only reason I say
this is to make myself feel better
and so my friends get the impression
that I'm just waiting for the right one.
Even though I have this majoy crush
on one of my closest guys friends.
Yeahhh. >_____>

Honestly, you're not missing out on anything. Don't even feel sorry for it. You don't need all the bullshit, the heartbreak and the frustration that "dating" brings. Most of it is one big avalanche of crap. Just focus on school, friends, fun and all that.

Just out of curiosity, are you seeing anyone right now?

I don't mean to single you out, of course, but I do find that most of the time, the people that say that dating and relationships aren't anything special are people who are currently in one. _smile.gif

So I fit the category? And nah, don't get me wrong - a meaningful relationship is a good thing, but these days teens don't really get into those (it's just rare). It's always the puppy love type, or the "f**k me/leave me" situation. And in both cases, it's just plain stupid.

I think its fine being single... though it sometimes makes me sad to see other couples and how cute they are together...

and i totally agree with that... I wanna be in a "meaningful relationship" but its hella hard to find someone who want the same thing...

Dating's a beginning phase to many relationships. It's hard to get anything really serious going without that part of getting to know each other.

Yup.. but I can't help hating beginnings. Mostly, because they rarely really develop. But that's me :)

Well, not everything develops into a deep, meaningful relationship; in fact, in theory, only one relationship should develop into a deep, meaningful relationship.

You mean marriage? I don't think so. I'm in a meaningful relationship right now, and I'm not married :)

Well, in theory, 50% of marriages in the U.S. end up in divorce. A lot of people remarry after that, right? So I guess it's more than one.

All the more reason why people have to start a serious, meaningful relationship somewhere.

I'm not saying they don't. I'm saying that wasting your time on "dating", heartbreaks and all that shit while you're a young teenager is insipid.

Trust me, even I sometimes think it's something that I shouldn't worry about so much.

I just see the "perils of dating" as a part of life. You can't expect to go through life without disappointment or heartbreak. Dating while a teen allows teenagers to make all their mistakes before they really matter.

It shouldn't be a main focus.

Certainly not, but I didn't think it was said that it should be the primary focus of teenagers.

I know. I also never said that you can't expect to go through life without disappointment or heartbreak :)

I just can't help but notice that teens are "oh-so-stressed" about "relationships", while it's not very wise to do so. There are so many more things to enjoy.
