Quick question...When you use this tracker on Myspace, it tracks the location according to the Veiwer's actual location or the location their profile says they are in?

It tracks the actual location of the viewer. Or rather, sometimes, where the Internet connection is from.

to start off - i've read every single thread and i'm pretty sure this is not a question that has been answered yet.

great tracker! thanks! i had one for a while that actually showed me the username and photo of the person visiting my site, but one day it just stopped working...

anyways, 2 questions:
i need clarification of the previous question:is the ip address unique to an actual user (person) or is it unique to the computer/internet a person is using? for example, if i log into myspace on a friends computer and access someone's page, will it show up as my friend's computer ip or will it show up as my personal ip cuz i'm logged into my account?

how can i manipulate the ip information to give me an acutal NAME of the person looking?

that's the real challenge for me. it's cool to see it on a map and all, but i want to know who the actual person is that is looking at my page and i want to be able to look at their myspace to investigate! i lack the ability to figure it out on my own. thanks for any help offered and i'm ready to share the wealth with a large network of friends and colleagues.

Ok, so if someone had their location set as say, Washington, DC on their Myspace profile(and had that put in for their zip code) but they were actually posting from like, Texas, it would show up as thier actual location, correct?

no, because when it tracks myself on my track, it shows up as a city 30 mins away which is probably where my isp is located and is the same way with some of my friends.

i'm sorry if you guys think i'm an ass, but i don't see the value in this. how can i utilize it to find out exactly who is looking at my account? that is the whole basis behind tracking isn't it? to track who visits....

all of the responses have been fabulous for helping me to understand about this "tracker" and how to make it work. but no responses about using it to it's full potential. there's information there! but how do i use it to get what i want - that is - how do find out EXACTLY who is visiting my sites?

Why do they all show up as "Anonymous"? There's about 15 views showing up, but they all say anonymous. I don't know if it just does that to me, but I don't see the point in this tracker if you don't know specifically who is viewing your profile.

It's a violation of Myspaces's policy. You just aren't allowed to do it.

Well, what I'm really asking I guess, is, you can't manipulate your ISP by putting in a different Location on your Myspace profile, right?

i dont think so. i'm pretty sure that it doesn't track the location you put on your profile, but rather your isp location.
