How exactly do people get to be 20% something or 10% something, or anything like that? Racial makeup is the result of a binary operation, so the fractional denominators should be powers of 2…

Hahahaha. I was wondering the exact samething. Is it even possible?

QUOTE
The thing I don't get is why people say that they're 100% something or other. It's not possible to be one straight race, everyone is mixed somehow from their ancestors.

Yes. So from now on everybody say either white, black, yellow, brown, yellow, or Mexican.

I know for sure i'm at least 30% German.. my great grandfather was a Nazi soilder... not by choice though. lol. And i'm 10% Irish. But besides that, I'm French, English, Swiss, ect. AND, i've been told that my great great great grandmother was 100% Native American. lol.

I guess im a little bit of everything, like most Americans. ph34r.gif

If I can't be 100% of anything, then I guess I'd be mostly Filipino.

I am 90% Vietnamese, with about 10% French mixed in.

Woah... that's cool. French and Viet.

My parents are both Egyptian, so I'm Egyptian. My great grandfather was Turkish, though. o_O

mmhmm, 100% chinese. some weird mix of canto and mandarin and taishan, not sure exactly how it goes. but i speak canto at home.

er, it IS possible. if all your ancestors were chinese and not mixed with anyone else from another country (which is the case in a bunch of families because of isolation), then chances are, you're 100% chinese too.

As far as I can tell…no. I've done a bunch of scenarios, and you can split the ethnicity in half again and again ad infinitum, but it's always going to be split in half, which means a denominator that is a power of 2…
