Grammar Nazis have two motives.

1] To assert their "superiority" to help make the world a better place (pfft.)
2] To keep themselves from taking out a gun and shooting the computer.
yeah.

Silly, eh?

nice theory, but not really true. Some of us are genuinely bothered by particularly horrific mistakes. Not spelling so much as useage errors. It's not a matter of being mean about it either, but for people who are at all observant, things that are horrifically wrong can be extremely irritating.

This is true.

And it's not like were always trying to be rude.. ever thought that sometimes we might genuinely want to help people? At least, that's how I see it. Some people simply don't know the difference between "their", "there", and "they're". I don't see anything wrong with correcting them.

Or maybe we could just smack them upside the head for not paying attention in English class. :p

You'd be surprised.
A few of my friends that just got internet just a few days ago, whenever they found a letter that they can replace with a number, they'll do it.

^ I wouldn't be the least bit surprised, especially considering the amount of votes "PpLz wH0 tYp lyK diZz" got in the what irritates you the most? thread.

As far as grammar goes, I'm pretty cool about disruptions but what really kills me sometimes are those who purposefully show their lack of regard for typing at least somewhat coherently. stubborn.gif

Yeah it really shouldn't matter if you are talking online. When you are talking with your friends dont you use slang? It's kind of the same thing only its written out. It's not like anyone's trying to impress others with their grammar (well some may) and some ppl should chill a little. Especially in the arguments. It seems like if someone is losing they will bring up grammar issues as a cheap shot.
