I know this is an old topic, but here I go anyways...
K so. I went to Barbizon. Basically, they accept ANYONE who auditions. Well, anyone who can pay the nearly $2000 fee. I guess I got caught up into it & felt like I was special because they accepted so I did it. It was a fun experience..kind of. Nothing really came out it though. At the end we ended up paying another $300 for a photo shoot...and then, that was it. They promised me a list of agencies or whatever? But i never got it.
Then they contacted me later on for an audition to go to New York and be in some model thing, I don't even remember what it was about. But I made it. I'm pretty sure they didn't accpet everyone into that though. It was $5000 to go, and my mom wanted me too. But I made the choice not to. Because $5000 is just wayyyy too much. Especially when we don't even have it. I mean, we do...but we don't wanna use it on THAT. Then I auditioned again for some other modeling thingy. &I made it. It was to go to Orange County for some other thingy, but it wasl ike $500. So I didn't go. I don't see why modeling should cost so much. So blah w/e. This post is unecessarily long. Bye.

uh theyre a bunch of crap who just want your money, trust me. they cost a lot, like $1,500 i think it was. and your not even promised any work. i went to tehm and they told me i was beautiful and acted like i was the best looking girl there. but they wanted to charge too much so my mom said no. they ended up getting like $100 from us. i'd never go see them again.  mad.gif

but hey do what you want. dont worry they wont turn you down... they want money mellow.gif

Actually, my friend went, but it did cost quite a deal of money. You're right that it does cost quite a lot of money (I believe it was more than $1,500?), but there have been people who've gotten jobs and auditions from it. I mean, I heard that one guy from Even Stevens (Disney) came from Barbizon. They're not exactly promised a job, but I mean, come on, in college, you're not promised a job either, but you pay thousands of dollars to go. My friend learned a lot from that school, although she said that it is very competitive, so she stopped going and now she's in theater, since she found out she likes acting more. She's rich so yea, connections whistling.gif

As for the post above, well maybe it is crazy to have to pay $5000 for it but personally, I agree with al-lure--you just have to take the chance. I mean, if it is $500, then that's better than having to pay $5000. I think you should've gone to the orange county one -- you never know. Talent scouts could be there!

someone at my school nominated me last year to join that thing. -__-
my mom went the the info meeting, but she said that it was one of those places that pretty much takes...anyone in. even the not-so-attractive people. LOL =x
as long as you provide the geld, they'll take you!
so yeah. i don't think it's worth it.

radhikaaaaaaa, my best friend is in that, but it was really expensive. and what xscore said about it is really true. but i don't think it would really be worth the money, although my friend seems to enjoy it once in awhile. she skipped a lot of classes, but she's graduating soon

I went to Barbizon Modeling school. They're really nice there and you most likely wont get turned down. When I went it cost $1800. But its actually a really gewd experience and teaches you a lot of stuff...well I wouldnt really know cuz I was never paying attention. But if you dont wear makeup (like me) then dont tell them cuz they just might decide to use u as there friggin' ginny pig. I was going to show you mii modeling teacher's web page but I cant find the address. =( But you really should try it out, its a lot of fun n u can meet a lot of new people. If they turn you down its not becuz you dont have the "looks" its just that they're looking for those really skinny anorexic type of girls who were 3 punds of makeup to cover up what their face really looks like =) and dont ever give up after one try!

Sounds fun, I had a friend who tried out for that. It costs quite a bit of money, and I don't even think she made it, considering nothing's happened for about half a year. But it's a risk you should take, maybe you'll have a better chance.
