81 points!! and going!!

i was going to title thing kobe bryant just raped toronto but i guess it was consensual.. horrible defense LOL.. did toronto honestly think guarding kobe with MO PETE would contain him... i mean jalen rose 5 is already bad.. but MO PETE?? but great game.. kobe may be a rapist snitch but also the greatest offensive talent in the league right now.. i hate kobe, but i have to give him props

We may not know if Kobe was guilty in Colorado but we do
know that Kobe is guilty of screwing Toronto.

Morris Peterson is apparently the best perimeter defender on Toronton team. But Raptor as a team did not make any effort to stop Kobe Bryant.

f**ked up game. Second highest points total in NBA history, but it is truly insignificant. Kobe Bryant is not, and will never be Michael Jordan = )

I must admit that I'm not a Kobe fan and think he's immature, egotistical and fortunate that he has the $ to buy the best attorneys. But, that 81 points is an amazing accomplishment. I'm not sure he has the leadership qualities to bring a championship to LA. It will be interesting to see if his phenomenal individual stats will be enough to lead LA to the finals.

please

kobe was shooting 61 percent that day.. most nba players dont shoot above 50 percent shooting 10 shots a game, let alone 45.. it would be completely stupid if kobe would have passed up shots and got his teammates (who have been doing nothing all game) more involved. do not forget that the lakres were down by double digits at the half, and kobe bryant single handedly carried the laker team on his back. if you were suggesting that kobe should have had shared the ball more, then please consider watching another sport

Exactly, this proves how much the Lakers have declined. Any good player could do the same if he was the only one that shot.

Wilt Chamberlain scored 100 points, but the rest of his team scored 69. Kobe scored 81 with the rest of his team scoring 41. Wilt's team had people that were producing, whereas Kobe was the only guy who could get the ball anywhere near the basket.

I think Wilt Chamberlain's record is much more spectacular, not only because he had more points, but because the circumstances were much different. No three point line for Wilt. He actually made most of his free throw shots, even though he was intentionally fouled because he was known as a terrible shooter.

True, but you also have to take into consideration that the speed and the pace of the game has changed. You have more athletic players then you did back then, plus there weren't to many players his size at the time which makes things a lot easier. Do you actually think that Will could score 100 into today's league? I doubt he would even see 60.

Take into consideration Wilt was a center, in a time where there was no 3 point line. Of course Kobe would not have. Take into consideration that during Wilt's game, their team would automatically foul the other team in order to get Wilt more points.

But I agree, Wilt's game was more impressive because of many reasons. The Lakers played the Toronto Raptors, while the Warriors played the Knicks. Wilt had 20+ boards in that game as well. Shame, it's a damn shame, a goddamn shame, LOL, that Wilt's game was not on tape.

I'm getting my Ahmad Rashad on and I'm gonna say, props to my main mans Wilt and Kobe

___

Kobe couldn't score 81 not fourty years ago, and not even 5 years ago. 5 years ago, there was no rule for "hand checking", which means you could guide a player driving to the basket with your hand, and now if you do that it is a foul

I think Jordans 63 against the Celtics is also more impressive. That was during the playoffs, and the Celtics were not a crap team. Plus, Jordan's teammates were actually semi productive.

Wilt could not even score 40 in the NBA now with all these rules. 5 seconds to the basket, illegal defenses, etc.

___

i think kobe could have a higher point scoring game in Wilt's league, than Wilt would in todays league. im not saying either wil score above 50, but kobe could score more poitns than wilt in eachothers leagues.

1) human beings have gotten more athletic
2) basketball players have learned new techniques
3) more efficient practices and conditioning
4) man on man defense

Heh. I couldn't help but point that out. Sorry. I'd post something relevant if I had anything to say, but all I have to say is, yeah, that's impressive.

Yes, but it was expected that Wilt was going to miss the free throws. But he made them all.

Heh, I was getting ready to add Jordan if you had continued the Kobe arguement.

Kobe would have to deal with better defense and Kobe would not have the luxury of three point shots. But it would be harder for Wilt to compete in today's league, simply because there are so many other good big men.
