Is it too late to nominate myself?

*looks hopeful*

<a href="http://www.xanga.com/twist_my_pretzel">Yaaay!</a>

I'm new to layout-making, so they're not all that great, but I enjoy working with HTML.

yeahhhhhhh, that link thing I was trying to rock didn't work out. My bad.

Let's try that again:

Is it too late to nominate myself?

Yaaay!

Oh, and I have some stuff in my entries that might stretch the blog thingy width, so if you want to see the layout and how it's supposed to really look go here.

Ok, not to be critical, but constructive....

Why all the votes for smrkangl when their page doesnt involve much work, it is very basic, and it doesn't even display correctly on internet explorer or firefox. I mean it lacks a lot of design, and it would almost be good if it actually displayed right. But I've tried 3 different browsers on 3 different computers and it just doesn't display right at all.

My site displays right on all computers and has more design and custom graphics put into it than any site I have ever seen on here, and I dont get many votes.

I am not bragging I am just confused

I mean their xanga is nice, but in a contest for design shouldnt design flaws as major as theirs cause people not to vote.

Just my opinion, to which I'm entitled.

I displays just fine on IE - maybe it's your resolution. I'll check FF as soon as I get home.

We don't have to justify who and why we voted. However, I will humor you.

1. Believe it or not - that graphic is hard to create.
2. I like the color coordination, and the design is very unique. That does require a lot of work! I would know - that kind of design and coding can take a while.
3. It has an "airy" feel to it, and it shows great artistic flair.
4. The quotes are great too.

I like yours, but the colorfulness of smrkangl's is what attracts me. I really don't personally prefer dark layouts.
I wouldn't ask these questions - you are complaining, and that's not attractive at all. Combined with the fact that you posted your url again, blatantly, (you could have just said "Thanks for the votes" or something like that), you are now complaining about the lack of votes for you, and the layout is the same as if was for the last Xanga of the Month contest... well you do the math. But that is just me.

I also DID say it was constructive criticism, so many people dont test their sites on different resolutions or different browsers, which believe it or not people is CRUCIAL to design issues. And if you wanna be pompous and say things like "I would know" ill play your game. I am a junior at Indiana University with a major in telecommunications, and minors in studio art and business. So as far as most

, flaws that are seen on most of the xanga's displayed on this site would make it so that your submission would not even be considered. Given the college that I attend and my major/minors " I would know".

I don't celebrate mediocrity.... But that is just me.

By asking "why" implies seeking justification.

Sure, broswers are crucial to design issues, but it's not the bottom line. Default Xangas work on all browsers. Smrkangl works on the browser that 90% of the interent users use - Internet Explorer, so I'm not too concerned.

You have a Xanga Premium account. So, unfair advantage - Premium accounts used to be disqualified in the past.

My "I would know" was about the toughness of the design and coding - you took me out of context. Being in college doesn't mean everything, either.

My xanga is compatible in IE and FF on all resolutions. So by your standards, it's fine.

Yeah i checked smrkangles on IE on 4 different computers and it didnt display correctly on any of them.... The "why" was rhetorical. http://www.dictionary.com

Next 90% of the internet DOES NOT use internet explorer. Where do you get your statistics Firefox is VERY popular, and opera has quite a following, you base your opinion most likely on personal bias, as do most people. If youd like research I am sure I can get some hard evidence that proves that 90% do not use IE. Besides the fact that it isnt a good argument because the site does not display correctly on IE.

EDIT FOUND STATS:
2006 IE6 IE5 Ffox Moz N7 O8 O7
January 61.3% 5.1% 24.8% 3.3% 0.4% 1.4% 0.2%

About not being too concerned about firefox, try telling anyone that in the real world and it won't fly. Try submitting it as a commissioned piece and it will get rejected.

Premium accounts only remove the banner ad, and give you a custome module...

1. I am not holding the banner ad against her at all only the fact that you can program your site to start BELOW it. (Just like you managed to do so well, or see for example my testing xanga page which is not premium http://www.xanga.com/imgonnarockthis3itch

2. The custom module can be created through code found on THIS SITE.

I did not take you out of context. I knew exactly what you were talking about. Did I make reference to say that I was misunderstanding you in some way. Telecommunications is all about media creation, for example websites, which is a proper rebuttle for someone being pompous, and saying "I would know" when it comes to such things.

Last but not least, I never claimed to know everything .... and quote me if I am wrong on that. Also don't quote something I said I knew and act like that was me saying I know everything or even a lot. I never say all when you mean some. Never say everything when you mean a lot. Never say a lot when you mean a little. Get it? Got it? GOOD.

Oh and P.S.

Who said anything about your xanga.... I like your xanga its done quite well, and yes it shows up great I never said your new site was flawed in any way shape or form. Lets pay attention to what IS and ISNT being argued.

Alright, I'm going to put an end to this right now before the quasi-argument escalates. Firtly, if people believe your site is vote-worthy then I'm sure they'll vote for it. Second, quit attacking our decision to vote for who we want to.

I attacked nothing. See my first post concerning the issue.

I would like to see smrkangl make their site look as good as possible, and I'm glad you all like it. Yes, I was criticizing but trying to be helpful as well.

It's a good design I just think it needs tweaked.

I wasn't trying to start a "quasi-argument"

All subsequent posts to my first were in self defense.

By the way. Nice Xanga Madame C.

I figured out smarkangl's problem. I wasn't exactly trying to but it is a resolution problem. Your site doesn't display properly on 1024x768. Hope you figure out a way to correct it. Once I finally saw it on IE displaying properly its pretty good... It's just if I were you small bugs like that would bother me. Good luck.

(Why do people make everything so personal, I was never attacking anything... Honestly what do I have to gain? XOTM? It's not important to me. I'm more in it for feedback. It was merely constructive criticism.)

Agreed. And it works fine in 1024 by 768, IE. Which is what the general population uses.
Hm.... To vote for Carrie or myself? Myself. Because Carrie is just too dam good. Godess. =P

If you have any more problems, contact with the moderators or bring the issue out of the way in the pm system. Therefore, it would be easier for the mod to count the votes. Thank you.
