Does anyone use this for their American history class, presumably AP? (I know Justin does, so I fully expect at least one relevant response to this topic). Doesn't it infuriate you? Isn't it horrid? It doesn't understand the concept of chonological order (Lincoln dies, Johnson takes over, and now suddenly we're back on Lincoln's policies. Then, Johnson didn't drink, he drank once, and oh, he's intelligent. Nonsqeuitor much?), everything that occurs on the 4th of July is "ironic," and it used the word "yeasty."

QUOTE
"The Republic owes much to these latercomers--for their brawn, their brains, their courage, and the yeasty diversity they brought to American society."
        ~The American Pageant

yeasty?

I use that (I'm taking the first half of the AP US History course). I actually kind of like that (despite half the time I'm doodling on cartoons and laughing about "rebellious sluts") textbook, but I do agree with you. I guess our general chapters are chronological but the topics within them can jump quite a lot.

I'm using the American Pageant as well for my APUS class. In fact, I'm using the twelfth edition to be precise.
My teacher wants to give us a midterm exam on the subjects that we covered so far next thursday and friday -_-;;
We're up to chapter 28 right now..

But it's a really unfortunate one. Fuscous is a word too, but that doesn't mean we should use it.

I'm not sure what edition mine is, but 11 sounded right. I'm on chapter 27, but he's actually teaching us this chapter without the book because it covers it so badly.

Yeasty as in it rises/expands naturally?

edit:

I still like my definition better. It makes more sense, too.

I thought the word "yeasty" was silly to begin with, but I got really angry once I discovered it didn't mean that it rises

I liked it too, but it was probably because the textbook that I used the year before for AP World History was really bad. It was called World Civilizations. It had a REALLY ugly cover

It's much better than the one that the state chose for us before, which was chosen because it didn't depict christians during the great awakening in a laughable manner.

seriously. it replaced a book that mentioned christians barking like dogs.

at least the american paegent has less of a religopolitical agenda.

But anyways, we used it as supplemental reading, not as a main text. Our main text was the teacher's notes.

What kind of assignments?

I remember laughing when reading certain sections. Their word choice was weird and funny at times...
