I thought it was a good upgrade, except it installed a crap load of spyware into my computer. My processing goes to 100% because of aolsoftware.exe. It's a nuisance to stop the process, thus Triton is an annoying software.

I don't recommend it at all.

I have not used the AIM client in forever, and find it horrible compared to the 3rd party ones such as Gaim Ichat Adium and Trillian. Keep away from this thing, its HUGE in size and a complete waste... If you want tabbed browsing, most 3rd party clients offered it 2 years ago.

^hah you spelled "gaim" wrong (unless that's not the word you're going for).
Bleh, I downloaded it, but it annoyed me so I uninstalled it.

I uninstalled it yesterday, but installed it back. I love the browser. Although i'm downloading something the internet speed is fast. Firefox slows down when I download files.

triton is one of the worst things to happen to AIM.

Seriously, I liked the layout for 5.5-5.9. It was simple and easy to use, plus i was attatched. And then they went and shifted a lot of stuff around and make me learn all over again. Plus it takes up a ton of RAM and the browser is blehhh.

The issue isn't with the program, it's AOL's network. They have to reverse engineer the protocol in order for gaim to use file transfers on AOL's Oscar.

Checked it out last night. It's terrible. First of all, the interface design is just plain bad. It has tabbed IM'ing by default—I don't really like tabbed IM'ing, but hey, I can let that go (probably one can turn it off anyway, I just didn't look around enough). But the chat windows are horrible. I hate the tabs for different kinds of chats. I hate how it puts an ad in the chat window (although yes, you can opt to move it to your buddy list). I hate all the information that pops up when you first IM someone. I hate how there's no "Info" button anymore. Oh, and I hate how it installs so much junk on one's system.

Gaim for Windows and Unix/Linux, and Adium for Mac OS X, is still way better. AOL's official client hasn't been good since AIM 5.0 came out, but now it's really taking a turn for the worst. I wish more people would move to Google Talk's network so that we could all kiss AOL's goodbye, because AIM is terrible, and MSN isn't much better.
