This is an asian thing. It's basically rice in water? Yeah.
What do you like in your congee? XD I like those fried long breads. ;P
Wait it's not only for chinese is it?

I don't think i've heard of this before...But if it's basically rice and water, that sounds good, i'd add shrimp in it too, hmmm sounds good :)

Called "Jok" in cantonese i'm guessing thats how it would be pronounced?

Long bred is like fried isn't it? "yao ja gwei" ^_^

CONGEE IS GROSS.

When I went to Hong Kong it was like all anybody ate and I just never enjoyed it.

Ugh, I hate regular, bland congee. It always makes me think of stuff I eat when I'm sick.

I do, however, LOVE congee with more flavour in it...like beef or chicken congee. It's sooo good.

Haha, the long fried bread thingies...you mean..."Oil fried ghosts"? Haha. Yeah I love those too. =)

^ same here. I only like th e flavored ones with meat and stuff..just the rice and water is bleehh.

I like it when it's salty and has meat in it.
I hate those eggs that my parents sometimes put in it. The black ones.

I eat it after I get my braces tightened. Congee, I mean.

my dads a chef so he makes it all the time. it gets pretty annoying since its all weve had for months. =[

I would never eat plain congee when I'm not sick.
Too much congee would make me throw up.

I like congee with a bit of flavour.

congee is pretty nice especially with preserved bean curd,salted black olives and pork sauteed with mustard(yeah,it may may some people retch) but I like it.Oooh and those fried long bread thingies too.

Oh, and I wanted to add, that pork dumplings (siu mai or shao mai) with plain congee is EXCELLENT. So is that dried crispy pork stuff.

Try it the next time you're feeling adventerous. =)

I don't know about "supposed" to having it but it's a pretty common thing to eat at yum cha. But I said that eating congee with it is good.

congee is more like rice porridge...not rice in water, that makes it sound so gross

aw its not just for chinese, vietnamese ate it too. It goes best with those fried thingy...I forgot the name, I swear it was in the dim sum menu....dah...
yeh, anyways, neither taste good without the other xD
