we need to have sex to re-produce.
if having one kid means 1000 other people will die, then we will all eventually die.

if we all choose abstinence for the rest of our life, we wont end up re-producing. no reproducing = no new babies = all of us will end up dying at some point.

if we all continue to have sex and masturbate as if its no big deal, then people will continue to die. more than usual. at some point, american will have masturbated and done it so much that we are all dead, unless we can be exceptionally rational (lol).

You know what's funny? There was a religious group called the Shakers (not to be confusd with the Quakers) during the 1800s who weren't allowed to marry or have sexual relations, so they died out within a generation. They apparently made nice furniture, though.

Hey, see, that'd actually might be the solution to the world's population problem. Lots of people can have unprotected sex, and then the result would be to reproduce a good deal. Sure, people would die, but they'do that anyway. It's like regeneration. Kill off a ton and start somewhat anew. The population would shrink, but not die.
