Wow. It looks like I'm the dissenting opinion here.

I'm not much a fan of the CLAMP drawing style. As a mangaka, yes, CLAMP is extraordinary, and it can be seen by the many series that CLAMP's put out, but I don't really care for the style in which the eyes and chin are drawn. A bit too sharp for my taste. But I have enjoyed the storyline for Chobits way too long to let something so minute get in the way.

As a drawing style I enjoy the rounder, more innocent looking eyes. The genuine look on the characters' faces.

Actually, now that I think about that, I take it back. I guess I'm just not a fan of CLAMP. One of my favorites is Ai Yazawa.

Yeah clamp has its certain style and everyone doesn't like it. I had a hard time getting use to clamps drawing. But after watching CCS and Chobits I fell in love with clamp and now I read their manga's and stuff...

I used to love watching CCS, but them I missed a couple episodes and felt so behind, I got discouraged.

I still love my Inuyasha, though. And Sailor Moon. Yes, the show may be ridiculous, but I always feel a bit nostalgic when watching it. I remember being 7 year-old me waking up extra early every morning just to watch it, before they put it on Toonami.

Yeah sometimes I watch the old animes just to get that nostalgic feeling. Its awesome when you get it. Like Speed racer and Atom Boy and such. All the classics make me feel nostalgic even Gundam Seed Mobile Suit.

Aha, what was your first anime?
I bet most of yours would be Sailor Moon.
Sure was for me.
Ah, I wish it would come back...

QUOTE(shadkitty @ Oct 25 2005, 8:57 AM)
It's perfectly "normal" to like anime. It's just another interest. Like reading. Ask your mom if you liked Disney cartoons a whole whole lot if that would make you weird. Because there are lots of people who are big fans of Disney cartoons, but nobody thinks of that as being a "trend" or abnormal. It's just because America thinks it's the coolest. Americans tend to have a superiority complex, and they feel as if Japan is taking over our "culture". Whereas most countries used to adopt ours. They adress anime and the wave of popularity as something that's stealing our culture because we ran out of ideas.

I've got a news flash. America was founded by people running away from their own countries. Only the Native Americans have true American culture. And it's totally different from ours. We have no culture, we've always stolen/borrowed from other cultures. Even most of our traditions are based on English tradition. There are few things we can actually claim as our own.

So why not just like anime for what it is instead of because it's popular or not popular. bleh  stubborn.gif That whole thing made me cranky. Sorry.

I really adore Clamp's art style, it's so beautiful and detailed. I should probably pick up Chobits. I see it everywhere and I'm always like...now what is this about? The characters look so lovely!! In xxxHolic Watanuki has to wear these little ears that are like communication devices, that look like Chi's. It was pretty funny.

Actually my mother isn't american and she hates america in everyway ossible dislcuding my familia. -_-' actually I think it's because my cousins down and Panama told her of Miroku grasping girls butts.

Haha! I remember Atom Boy. Never watched it though.

But Sailor Moon is a classic. Yes, I know it's cheesy and all that, but I still love(d) it.

I'm glad not everyone likes America. Americans have a tendency to run away with this idea that we're the best. *bleh* Need humility much?

Anyway...I happen to like the sharp style. Because it is so different from my own style. I tend to draw round, smooth, flowing lines. So I can appreciate other styles better. Does that make sense? I also like the elongated bodies...which I think I mentioned before but can't remember. Probably because I'm tall and thin myself. So I kinda feel like that's how I'd look if someone drew me as an anime character.

My first anime was His and Her Circumstances. I never watched the anime that came on TV. No DBZ or Sailor Moon, no Pokemon. *irk* I was a hater...an anime hater! Right up until I got married. When you have no working antenna for your telelvision, no cable, not even public tv...you learn fast to watch what you've got. And my husband has a lot of anime. His and Her Circumstances was the first one he had me watch. Next came Onegai Teacher...I was hooked!

^^ You CAN put a banner in your sig, but it's not mandatory, I don't think. You could even put a text link, but with your current sig, I don't think you could fit a banner in there.

I was actually here for a long time.. But I quit but after seeing they had a anime section I just came here because no one can criticize you for your like of anime in the anime section... Usually I don't do forums because too many judemental people. AnyWHoooz!! My name is SaMMy Lee and glad to meet you guys. I've been watching anime for about 7 years and I've been considered freaks to some... I'm vice-president for my anime club at school =P

Gungrave was something I really enjoyed watching but I never bought the dvd set.. I was looking it up but guess I couldn't end up finding it..

AZN banner is not mandatory.. Nothing is mandatory here.. Its like a free will place. Just a place where you can express your love for anime =P
