at my school, my friend erin and amanda, which are white, get made fun of because they hang with me and the rest of the blk kids at school. all the other white kids call them wanna-b's and the "fake blk kids". most of the white kids get mad when they hang with us. they tell her that she talks blk and that she needs to act her own race. i mean i really dont see what the big deal is. she acts like herself and she doesn't try to be something she's not. i just dont get it!

So whats the debate?

Racism? Stereotyping? Verbal violence? Terrorizing? Or just the idiocy of the world? ... or something hidden to do with Christianity?
I think we've had topics on all of these factors, but just to solve your perplexity, your solution would be:

a) ignoring. Which has similar letters from the word: ignorance
b) physical violence. Which will probably get you kicked out of school. But to your own advantage, you will not have to see them ever again.
c) think of some good comeback and eat their racist face with it.

I really dont see the debate factor in this. Yes, it happens but.....yeah

people are like that, they can't see past their own race and only think that people of the same race should hang out together, well just think of it that they're just jealous that erin and amanda has a variety of or more friends unlike them.

Well yeah, over here I'm possibly like the only asian kid who doesn't hang out with other asian kids. I hang out with white kids or anyone, really. And this asian kid is all "you're a fake asian". Possibly because of that? I don't really see why school can't be just interracial instead of cliques of race.

there really is no bad thing about that. i dont see why everyone is bringing up the past where white is the superior race. its really not. people just need to get over their insecurities. black people to me are actually quite funny. i dont see how i could hate them.

ignore them. i hang out with people from virtually every race at my school and i just ignore what other kids have to say about it. its good to have friends from other races!

Now it shouldn't but I can at least understand where you're coming from, since my school is very diverse, and not in a racist way, but there's certain ways we don't really interact wih each other, not because of prejudice but because with so many class levels, there's a fair amount of isolation because those who don't speak English well or act "ghetto" and don't care about school will rarely see those of us who take higher level classes. Sure, we get along fine when we're just together in an activity (like band, cross country, student council , whatever) but when say for example, people feel they have to "act black" and a white girl tries to act like that, then she's basically "trying to be black." I don't think that it's so much a problem that they're hanging out with another race and should "act their own," but that when they're "acting like another race" they often make complete fools of themselves. Not because it's foolish to act that way, but that sometimes people try too hard and seem ridiculous. It's not so much that you shouldn't hang out with different races- that's good- but that you shouldn't forget what you are either. That's pretty much racism too, then. But so yeah, don't listen to them. They're being judgemental and it's horrid, but it's just sterotyping.

People are like that. Just tell them to get over themselves. Just because you're white doesn't mean you have to act "white". What is acting white anyways?

a lot of people i know are more accepting of that...yeah there are comments here and there but it isn't much of an issue from what i know of.

At my middle school, I was one of the very very few mexicans. There were probably 6 mexicans last year, no lie. Alllllll of my friends were asian. (The ones that I hung out with).

Yeah some guy wuld always make fun of me for hanging with asian people when I'm not even asian. He also made fun of my white friend (she moved now) for hanging out with asian people. Stupid boy.

Now, in highschool .. people ask me why my friends are all asians. I don't see why it should matter. Whatever

Well I pretty much feel the same way because I'm Asian, although I don't date Asian girls or hang out with Asian people. Almost every Asian person in the city hates me. Most of my friends are Black or Hispanic so yeah...

I don't see anything wrong with it. The only time there IS something wrong with it is when people stop being themselves just to fit in with a certain group of people.

I hang out with mostly White people, but I also have Black, Asian, Hispanic, etc. friends. Having white friends doesn't mean I want to be white or that I'm any less Black or Asian.

I don't think it matters whether your friends are of the same race as you or not.

It's a good thing I live in a VERY diverse community, and I've never experienced this before. I have friends from all over the place, and no one really cares about your race. (At least, this is just with the circle of friends that I have).

They are just jealous at those whites who have a more diverse circle of friends. Racists deserve punishments.
