I was in fifth grade when it happened. My brother and I were at home by ourselfs and we saw it happening on tv. I was really confused on what happend because at that time I didnt really know what the twin towers were. It was until later on that day that I realized the seriousness of it .

i was out in NJ, my grandma had westnile
i woke up to my grandpa blasting the TV really loud and it said a plane had just hit world trade center one and then like 20 minutes later a second plane had just hit. I repeat a second plane hit. me and my aunt were downstairs watching. i was worried about my mom because she was at the hospital which was just right across the river from the world trade center. she saw the smoke. she just missed the second plane hitting. we went there later and we could see smoke still coming from the site. my aunt broke down alot and so did mom. i didnt. i remember that night after it happened we didnt hear any planes going ahead because she lives close to Newark. It really scared me because i new something big was gonna change everyones lives. it was just really weird because no one was out at all and then a couple days later like at night we drove by the train station and there were a whole bunch of cars there. we knew those people were dead after that |

i was in my freshman year at high school and they announced it and they were showing it on tv later on. i remember coming home and my mom told me she thought she was watching a movie at first before eventually finding out it was real.

I was in like.. third or second grade. To be honest, I didn't find out until I got home. And I was so stupid so I just said, "cool! A plane!" Yeah. Now I know. I was worried about my dad since he lives there, but thank God he did not die.

It was around 11pm in Hong Kong when the incident happened.
So I didn't know about it until the next day. Then the next couple of weeks, there were a lot of TV programmes about it. |

I don't remember what exactly happened. I'm in Malaysia so I think we received the news sometime during the evenings. My neighbour called me saying America got bombed and whatever not.
When I switched on the television, it was all over the news. They were replaying the hit over and over again. It felt like somthing from a movie. You don't expect it to happen in real live, you know. |

I was in 10th grade, in Honors World Cultures. About 9:15 a teacher came in and whispered something to my teacher, who turned on the TV, and we spent the rest of the class (until 9:40) watching the coverage. I then went to German, which didn't have cable, until 10:30, and then I went to math. It was then that I learned the towers had collapsed.
It was really surreal to me. The weekend before I had actually visited the World Trade Center, and had gone to the roof. I couldn't stop thinking about how they had been there, solidly, just a week ago, and now they were gone. I remembered so many little things about them, that it felt like losing a person, not a building. I also kept thinking about the elevator operators and ticket collectors I had met along the way, and wondered if they had been working that morning. |

I was in 8th grade, in my science class, which overlooks the East River in Queens and has a good view of the towers. None of us saw the first plane hit, but we all saw the fire that ensued. Then, I caught a brief glimpse of the second plane going through the second tower.
All of us watched the towers come down, and we all saw the huge plumes of smoke and dust as they spread out all over the place. In the few days afterward, the winds were blowing smoke and dust east towards Queens, so the air was really hazy and had a horrible smell to it. That's pretty much my 9/11 memory. |

I'm pretty sure 9/11 happened when I was in 4th grade, but I don't think I heard it from school I think I heard it from the news or something when I got home. And when I figured this out it was just horrible. So the next day in school we wrote letters to kids who lost their parents, but we were not aloud to ask what it was like since it might have brought them down.
Yeah that was my 9/11 memory. RIP to those who died due to the 9/11 attack. |

I remember it clearly. I was in 5th grade. It was a tuesday so I was in music class. Then, when we went back to our regular class, the teachers looked so sad and angry. All these kids were going home, and the teacher told us. Something happened, but we can't tell you what and she asked everyone in our class where are parents worked. Then, we usually had recess, but today we weren't aloud to go outside. So when I came home I saw the news and I couldn't believe what I was seeing.
Never forget 9-11. |

I was in 7th grade. I was going to my second period class which was Reading. The teacher had the television on but no one knew what was going on. We kept watching until the principal told all the teachers to turn off the televisions because it was too graphic. I was worried the whole day because my father sometimes works in NYC. Fortunately, he wasn't there that day. A lot of parents came to pick up their kids. After school was over, I went to my friend's house and from her attic we could no longer see the towers and the sky was all polluted because of the smoke. It was a very sad day that I still remember like it was yesterday.

I was in middle school. None of the kids knew what "The World Trade Center" was...we knew them as "The Twin Towers" so a teacher asked us if we had parents who worked at The World Trade Center, and nobody understood except for a few kids whos parents did work there. When we were in class, we turned on the news and saw the towers on fire. Everyone was like, "Is that the twin towers?!" Some people didn't believe it and thought they were other buildings. I quickly recognized them. Nobody knew it was from terrorism. Then the principal made an announcement that all TVs must be turned off...because parents and friends worked there and it was upsetting a lot of students. They were really scared. My mom drove to school and picked me and my neighbor up early. We were all afraid what might happen and we didn't want to get stuck at the school.
I went home and my mom told me exactly what happened and I started crying. I cried so hard and I locked myself in the bathroom. I couldn't understand why people would do this. My friends father died that day. I never met him, but it was so sad... The next day we wore red white and blue everything. Everyone in school did. Some people wore black. Everyone was so upset. We all cried in school... That week was very quiet. May all those souls that were lost rest in peace... |

I was in 6th grade, and it was the end of the school day that I found out. All I remember is yelling at these idiots to shut up because they were yelling, "WORLD WAR THREE!! WORLD WAR THREE!!" and then I went on reading my book.
It never really affected me because all I could think is, "There are worse things going on in other parts of the world every day and we don't seem to notice them, so why should we notice this?" I never thought that was fair, but then again, life isn't fair. |
