QUOTE(uninspiredfae @ Sep 1 2005, 5:08 PM) ... we are talking about the aftermath of hurricane katrina, not 'just the internet'. how are you able to get through the day with such an ADD problem? and i have to tell you those things because i don't think you're aware. exactly.... what we're talking about isn't some JOKE. Have you watched the news AT ALL? do you know exactly what's happening? it kills me to even turn on CNN And see all of these people starving. |

QUOTE ^like Joyce, who came back here because she'd lived here up until July. How horrible that they made the move to Gulfport, Mississippi only 2 months before it was devastated! and they didn't want to go to Mississippi to begin with... Oooh, I know who you are talking about! Her little sister is Rosemary, right? I remember them to look a lot alike. I never really met them though, I just know who they are. It's great that they're okay! Mmm. So an update from me because I'm procrastinating: Katrina has been terrible. Some people I know have relatives in New Orleans, but thankfully their family members have already evacuated to other parts of the country. My school is actually registering people that have come all the way from New Orleans, which I think is pretty cool :] Gas prices are going up because of Katrina, and people are freaking out. I understand that the gas prices have gone extremely high, but I wish some people would stop complaining about them and think about how fortunate they are to actually be living. Seriously... Sorry. Just a rant. x[ |

why can't everyone make up like xscore and fae?
anyway, student council, pals, our senior high team and maybe more are raising money. from stuco, we've gotten maybe four thousand from adults. our goal is for us students to match that. |

Is this why you begged me to join these particular forums, Michelle.
To back you up in this...debate? You both are being pathetic. Don't continue with this. On another note... Yes, be careful where you donate your money. Your best bet is probably the Red Cross. I've volunteered there, so yes. |

It's not spam. One of my grandmas friends lives in New Oreleans they need help and you should help them if you ever want to go anywhere because of gas prices.

Hey I just wanted to say I'm from Houston where a lot of the refugees have come and they really need any sort of help, mostly cash because the Red Cross can't begin to assess the damage. The people also desperately need bottled water, clothing, food, etc. Local schools are opening up their doors to students for the next month, people from the Superdome are being transported to the Astrodome (our old stadium), and all the hotels and motels are full. People here are the lucky ones that could afford to leave. Our government is actually doing its job. The areas was labelled a crisis situation before the storm even struck and their sending more National Guard in to control the looting and riots, but there is only so much anyone can do. Its total chaos over there and the city is in a toxic pool of corpses (new and old), sewage, gasoline, alligators, and even reported sharks. Please donate.

QUOTE(uninspiredfae @ Aug 31 2005, 11:47 PM) this is kind of funny, the sad kind of funny. we donated millions privately to tsunami victims, but has anyone heard about relief efforts for from any other part of the world? maybe they're just late, you think? I shall remain hopeful. Hmm, well I read that countries are trying to contribute to hurricane relief: http://edition.cnn.com/2005/WEATHER/09/02/katrina.world/ But it is sad about what is going on. I would donate, but I have no money. I'm sure that my school is going to try to raise money to help, as we did with the tsunami. |

no one has been talking about it, probably because of Joyce, so I haven't had to worry. My neighbors actually decided to be polite and not discuss politics in mixed company, so they switched from Bush to Medlock Bridge (random topic) before I could object. If my friends said things I disagreed with, I probably would argue. I just couldn't win as easily as i can on cb

That's rather contradicting... To be on topic....people, donate donate donate! Imagine what that would be like, being stuck in a dome with no power and having so many people that you don't know surrounding you...everything lost. I think they'll take anything that's helpful...so go on, help! :D |

I shall remain hopeful. heh. i was thinking the same exact thing! only 20 countries offered to donate money to help. after all of the money we've given to the countries around the world, you would think that more of them would be willing to help us in return. |

I was watching the news, and tons of people are stuck in the Superdome. They're starting to get really, really pissed off, and most of the victims are Afican-American. (They think this is the reason they're not getting help.) A member of Spanish Parliment was escorted out of the Superdome by the military police, even though thousands of people just happen to be stranded there.
The same overcrowding situation is happening in the Houston Astrodome. But I really hope that the govt. starts to do domething. I'm especially pissed at the president for not getting up off his hick ass and actually doing something about this. |
