well that's not a very good reason. in fact, it'smore demeaning than being ignored

i'm sure some of my ancestors were enslaved at one point or another. it doesnt mean i deserve special treatment now

No, we celebrate it because of their actions in the sixties. Don't generalize.

Alright, so we celebrate other cultures because they're impoverished?

Did you read why I even posted that?
Someone said "Just because there's more people of a certain race doesn't mean they're necessarily on top.", and then I posted a statistic that went against that statement.

Yup. The human race was never logical. Racism isn't logical. Even stereotyping and creating some sort of barrier between races wasn't logical. THERE IS NO LOGIC IN THIS WORLD ANYMORE.

Yes, I did, but it also served my purpose

anymore? sorry, when was it logical? when people ran around killing those without blood on their doors? perhaps not.

since when? we were "created equal," no? wsa Jesus not born in the Middle East? can Hispanics not be as smart as whites; blacks as smart as Asians? no. We cannot generalize like that, because people remain individuals. Besides which, if people interbreed enough, i immagine we eventually could be the same. i'm not the most knowlegable on gentetics, but i would imagine...

Actually, prejudice is very logical. It's a generalization. Let's use teachers for example. We all have exisiting ideas of how a teacher is supposed to act, what they're supposed to do, hell, even what they're supposed to look like. Even if we're proven "wrong," we're still going to have the same ideas about them. That's a prejudicem, granted, not prejudice in the way in which we usually associate.

ok. so maybe when people start getting over themselves and trying to make their race superior, we'll have equality.

[off topic] and if jesus & mary were from the middle east wouldnt they be darker skinned? i dont mean black, but tan. not white. yet another example of how the whites dominate.

Hence, the Holocaust. If the poor economy could be associated with the Jews, people could find that reliable and take comfort in having a scapegoat

Is it just me or is U.S. history basically white history anyhow ?

If racism didn't exist then I'm sure certain miniority advantages wouldn't exist either. I can see where the white people come from but can you really put yourself in what any minority goes through. Sure everyone is discriminated for other reasons than race but it really hits a home run when someone discriminates against you just because of you're race. It really makes you want to tighten you're fist. If anything black history month is just giving others an insight on what african americans went through.. celebrating freedom and rights. Something they didn't have.

I don't know if that makes sense.. I never post in debate.

human nature, remember? when do you think that will be? it may shift to another race, but i have little faith it will go away entirely

no no no. you don't know what color their skin was. just because they are portrayed white doesn;t mean they were. i could be another act of white supremecy

Please explain to me how it's logical to stereotype someone because of their race or 'occupation' like how you stated. You are often proven wrong. Making assumptions like that about others is not logical by any means. Racism and prejudice. How is that logical? I'm trying to think of it in a positive way, but .. why can't we just be equals despite our race. Of course people are going to be smarter than others, but they're not going to be smarter because of what they can't help (race, gender, etc). Judging someone by a physical/genetic characteristic is NOT logical.

just because it isn't right doesn't mean it isn't mean it isn't logical. Humans are irrational creatures, so it's perfectly logical for us to descriminate. People like generalizations and scapegoats. Agian, see the Holocaust

What makes you think just because a person is from the middle east automatically makes them "darker"

.. it can be taken many ways.

that makes perfect sense actually. we dont need a white history month. we learn about white history in school for several years. all i know is that back then they were superior. and they still are. in most places....

What's right is not always logical. Just because it's natural for us to discriminate, doesn't make it logical. What is 'right' anyhow? The rules society made for us?

I don't really think you can say any race to be "superior" at a certain time, because it wasn't "whites vs. blacks vs. Asians vs. Native Americans"

Things that are natural do make sense though, even though the sense might be twisted.

I know it makes sense to me too.
U.S. history is predominately about the white people and sure they founded America and that is exactly why it can be seen as mostly white history. Eh.. I'm having mixed feelings on that.

I think it's not so much that Europenas were more advanced, but more that their interests tended to differ from the rest of the world. Thus, they could overcome others like Native Americans because they wanted different things.
