I'm getting braces can you guys tell me about them? Do they hurt do they look bad......please tell me ALL about them!!!!!

braces dont hurt a lot unless the dentist tightens them. the good thing is that they help you a lot with your teeth problems. i got mine a month ago and they dont hurt after a week or two. you usually can only eat soft food like bread and soup for the first week.it depends how you look like if the braces look good or bad on you. and there are also many types of braces.it al depends..well, all that matter is that after it comes off, your teeth will look great!
Dont worry, it'll go by pretty fast..like 20 minutes..=]

i just got mine off last week. my teeth looks pretty now hehe.

it hurts and feel weird when first wear them. but you will get use to it. i haven't chew gum for 2.5 years...but now i can eat whatever i want :)

first time...hmm...i was in pain. but only for about 3 days. and now i barely notice them. i dont obey the rules much...as in no popcorn, or starburst. i mean HOW DO THEY EXPECT US TO KEEP OURSELVES AWAY FROM ALL THE GOOD STUFF?? lol but yea it doesnt take long. but i guess that depends on ur orthodontist. dont worry, its not like you're gonna die. and remember that pain is beauty lol

Gees. It took 2 hours to put mine on. Hurt too..the kept drilling. Gah.

If you can't really stand much pain, which is understandable cause your teeth are very sensitive, take tylenol or some type of pain reliever BEFORE YOU GO. It helps.

Also. First night you might not be able to eat much. I couldn't even eat pizza. I recomend a light dinner of Yogurt..or ice cream...or something like that.


The rules they'll give you are over the top. I ate starburts, and chewy candy and never broke a bracket. It's no big, really.

i had them before. it feels weird when you first get it. and the braces keeps cutting my gums. it hurts!! but then you get use to it and it wont cut anymore. its only for a few days for me. and it aches after you get it on so eat something like congee for the first few days before you get use to it. and it feels weird after you take it off too. braces arent that bad. it actually looks good on lots of people

yea, it only hurts when they're tightened. some times it'll scratch but other than that, its ok.

Mine took two hours My orthadontist said that it takes awhile because of how carefully you have to do them.

Anyway to answer your question, they hurt, sure, you're putting metal in your mouth, but it's no t pain that kills, it' not bad, but eating's a problem for the first week, and I'm sure you'll look good in them ^^.

Hey aI chew gum and I'm not supposed to and it hasn't done anything. People say you have to watch out but I've eaten things from chips to gum (cept for corn on the cob) so you'll get used to it, it's really no big deal.

half of my friends have/had braces, i heard it hurts for about the first 2 weeks and then you get used to it. you`ll be fine ^-^

it's HELL! espicelly the part where the dentist puts this thing on to push your teeth together...braces are just ugh...and you can't eat certain things...when you have something cold in your mouth it just goes all around your teeth..those damn metals

theyre oaky, they dont hurt just ache and when theyre off you can call your friends picket fence or something cos theyre teeth are ugly or something..

braces.. I got them like 6 months ago. they ache for about 2 days after you get em on. and eat whatever you want but dont chew or bite hard stuff.......... or else your braces will pop and you might have a wire poking your cheeks if the brace near the end of the wire pops off.

i have braces now.. [getting them off in like a monthishh!!!] and i've had them for almost 2 years.. yeahh it hurts at first and the first few days after each time you get them tightened.. but then the pain goes away. i've eaten pretty much everything they say not to.. just be really careful and dont totally bite super hard into like stale licorice or something. if you need rubber bands wear them too.. esp the first few and the last few days before/after your appt's. so yeahh.. they get really annoying and you'll get tired of them, but they dont hurt after the first few days. you might get little ulsers here and there from rubbing agaisnt your mouth.. but your ortho mite give you wax to put on your braces so it doenst rub too much. good luck w/ it all

I've had mine sincee March of 2003 ! Anddd I have about a couple of months left ^_^ yay ! My dentist told me I'd only have them for 1.5 years ! What a liarrr!! So... only time braces really hurt is when a wire comes loose... I have a loose one now. And its like poking into the back of my mouth. All you need to do is make an appointment and they will fix it.

I was talking to a lady at my uncles partyy and she said that your braces really can lock with someone else if you are making out hardcore with another braceface teehee

I had braces but I dont have them anymore (big yayness factor in there ) They hurt a tad at first but just take Tylenol and eat mushy stuff for the first few days and follow those two things after each time they tighten them too. You'll be fine

no it didnt. it didnt cost when i broke brackets. maybe for you but not for me or anybody else i know

They hurt when you first get them on. The bottoms hurt more than the top... but you'll get used to it. It isn't that bad really..
