Okay, I would like everyone's opinion on this, even the guys. Next year, I'll be a freshman in high school and at my school, there's a Fall Ball. It's a big dance and it's the next best thing to prom. You can go to the Fall Ball with friends, but I hope to get a date. Plus, it's cheaper if you go with a date. My school is very small, 300 kids grades K-12, about 20 kids per grade.

Anyway, my friends all seem to think that I'll get asked to the Fall Ball by more than one guy. I'm not popular or anything, but I'm not bad either. So my question is...what is the best way to say no to a guy who has asked me? This is where I want guys' opinions, too.

I'm afraid if I say no to a guy, I won't be asked by anyone else and I'll end up going alone. I know of one guy that likes/liked me and he might ask me to the Fall Ball, but I don't like him at all. I mean, nothing more than friends. Any help with this future predicament?

Maybe tell him that you've had more than one offer, and you're still deciding. That way, you don't tell him no right there..

I really don't know

What if someone I don't want to go with asks me first, but I am waiting for something better to come along? What would I say then?

You can still say the same thing. They'll never know if you have more than one person that has asked you... If worse comes to worse, and you arn't asked by another person, you still have him. I mean, you didnt' say no, and if you show up alone, you wont' feel stupid.

ohmy.gif omg. you've gotta be shittin me. where do you live???

my 10th grade class alone has 900 people!

just in ONE grade.

wow.

just... wow. i can't imagine 20!

we had so many people, they had to split high school into two departments. HIGH SCHOOL (9th and 10th grade) and SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL (11th and 12th). we have 1700 people in my school--and that's only TWO grades.

the senior high i feed into has over 2400. and that's juniors and seniors only.

maaaan.

as for guys, we're mostly stupid. and we won't stop pestering you UNTIL you say a direct NO so that's all you can say. guys can't take hints.

Tell him the truth. Since there is 20 people in your grade, words can get out hella' fast. You know everyone & your friends know everyone.

why dont you just ask out the guy you want to go with ? it would make things easier and less complicating. if he says no, ask out the next guy.

or just wait til you rack up all the dates you could say yes to one and tell the others that you already had that date. 0_o

^ What she said!

Don't lie because people might end up asking questions (leading to more lies) and it'll just be like a big web of lies that you can't get out of.. And it could really ruin your reputation. Say what seems most natural to you. If you have something premade in your mind, sometimes it'll come out really weird, but if you're good at that sort of thing just say...

"Do you want to go to the dance with me?"

"You're a great guy, but I have other plans for the ball. Sorry."

Or something like that. Sound sincere.

COMMUNICATION

Make yourself known. Talk to the guys. Be self confident. Seriously. Hold your head up high and catch a few people's eyes.

I didn't mean for that to rhyme/go well...it just did.

If you want to give him a chance then give a shot.

If you dont want him; say
you: "i'm sorry, i'm waiting for someone"
you : "well, maybe next time, alrite?"
him: "sure. who are you waiting for?"
you: a special friend =] oh, i gotta go now, cya later

Um i don't know if this is weird or not...

But at my school we have "winter formal" which is basically the same thing but in December and well----The girls ask the guys.

I go to an all girls school though so we have to ask the guys to come with us cause we run it.

If you want to go with someone in particular start talking to him now and maybe he'll ask you or you'll get into a convo where it will be a mutual thing. Pick ahead of time--it works well. Then go from there. If you don't want to ask a guy then just start talking to the guys you want to ask you and they'll be likely to ask you first. Drop hints??? I guess.

I'm running out of ideas. Lol
